This is Reception Perception The Show. What's going on, everyone? Welcome to another edition of Reception Perception The Show. I'm Matt Harmon. That's right. No James Koh once again this week. We're without our captain, our fearless leader.
So like the substitute teacher, essentially. You know, I don't know if I count myself as the substitute teacher. I have no idea, but I definitely don't normally host the show. However, I'm going to be hosting again today and we have a big show ahead for you. An incredible show, a two-parter today. Actually, in part two, I'm going to be joined by a little special crossover episode. Heed The Call podcast, the boys, Dan Hanzus and Marc Sessler are going to join me to discuss the Browns and Jets young, promising wide receiver rooms and whether those two downtrodden fans can find any hope for their teams this year. We'll see how that goes. But before that, we have a great guest here to discuss some, I mean, big breaking wide receiver news that's happened in kind of the last 24-ish hours. A lot to break down here and joining me to do just that is my guy from Fantasy Life. It's Dwain McFarland. Dwain, what's going on, buddy?

What's up, man? I'm so excited to be joining you. We haven't got to chat. We just sat here and just shot the shit for like, sorry, I hope I can cuss on here. We're like for the first 15 minutes and we were like, we're going to record for 20 minutes. We're like, well, we'll start now. We'll start it now and we'll see how we do.
I know we both have a tendency to like, we dig into the details on this stuff. But yeah, excited to jump into it. Appreciate you having me on, man.

Well, and the tough part is too, is I originally booked you yesterday for about 20 minutes on the Keenan Allen signing Josh Downs fallout. Then of course, we got even more news as I was sleeping earlier today with Dan and Marc. We found out some unfortunate news with the Houston Texans about their wide receiver room that I think is going to cause a pretty big adjustment in our projections and everything. So we're going to have a little bit of a fantasy fallout, a little bit of a real life discussion about this whole thing. But let's start in Indianapolis. Keenan Allen signs with the Colts on a one-year deal up to about $8.2 million.
He reunites with Shane Stike and these guys were together in Los Angeles. He knows the offense. Apparently, they have been thinking about bringing in Keenan Allen, Dwain for months now, talking to him basically since June. It makes sense, this pairing here, I think from a what the Colts need perspective. But honestly, I'll be transparent here. When I was like, hi, I've got to talk to somebody about this. Who can I bring on? And I saw you post a reaction to it on Twitter. And I was like, you know what? I pretty much agree with 95% of this. So let's have Dwain just come on here because I agree with him.
I agree with this. This is a really good analysis. So let's have Dwain come on here and help me out and break this whole thing down. So when you saw Keenan Allen going to the Colts, let's start with just the Keenan Allen part of this. And then we'll talk Josh Downs and the Colts receivers and everything. Just kind of reaction to Keenan going to Indianapolis.

Yeah. So I mean, Keenan, he'll be 34 this year. But we have seen him still earn targets over these last few years. He's not the same Keenan Allen we once knew. Right. I mean, it's more mostly inside from the slot.
He still knows how to read defenses. He knows where to settle down. Quarterbacks can trust him. He's got size. His yack ability is not near what it used to be. But like he, he's still a player that can do a certain thing. Right. And in the offense. And so I think by bringing him in, like number one, like Nick Westbrook, Akini was going to be your next option if Alec Pierce is not starting on the season. So, I mean, they had to do something.

Anthony Gould, people don't know who these people are. So, and that tells you why they had to do something. But when I look at Keenan's skill set, like in what departed with Michael Pittman Jr. like it makes sense from that standpoint. Like he can do some of the stuff that Michael Pittman Jr. did. You could still line him up on the outside if you want to play him more as the Z and have him work underneath. He's not going to be, he's not replacing Alec Pierce. I mean, obviously Pierce is the downfield threat, but if they've got to get by a few weeks, like he gives them another functional target.
