[FULL EPISODE] Let's Go for a Stroll Through the Wide Receiver Trade Market

Reception Perception: The Show

October 15, 2026

Matt and James share their thoughts on some receivers around the league who have been rumored to be on the trade block, including Brian Thomas Jr., Jerry Jeudy, Rashod Bateman and Jauan Jennings. Where would BTJ fit best? Does Jeudy still have some juice in the tank?

Absolutely dominant on deep routes, absolutely dominant on short routes.

Excellent separation against ManCover. This is Reception, Reception, The Show.

Yo, what's cracking, everybody? James Koh, Matt Harmon here with you. You're listening to Reception Perception, The Show. All right, Matt. It is that time of the year where pretenders have fallen off, contenders are still contending, and trade season here is upon us. I shouldn't even say trade season. It's more like trade rumor season is upon us here. And especially at the wide receiver position, I think there's a lot of really, really interesting names. If you take a look at what Dan Graziano and Fowler put together for ESPN here, Brian Thomas Jr, Jerry Jeudy, Quentin Johnston, Rashod Bateman and Jauan Jennings are potential names that could be on the move. I don't know. I mean, you compare, you add to what Rap Sheet has reported that Minnesota wants to trade Jauan Jennings and that San Francisco could possibly be in the market to bring back. I mean, why not? You bring back Deebo, you bring back Jauan. Sure. Let's see what's going on out there.

Yeah, I just want to go through some of these wide receiver potential moves here with you and see what the potential fit might be, what you think about some of these wide receiver and team pairings. But man, let's start with Brian Thomas Jr. right there. Again, he's probably the biggest name on the market.

Now that Marvin Harrison Jr. is now in Houston, but BTJ, I don't think he's going to be on the move, but I guess it could happen.

Matt Harmon (1:41)

Yeah, I'm pretty torn on this one about Brian Thomas Jr. because on the one hand, the Jaguars have said that they don't want to trade him. They think he is more valuable to them than he is as a trade piece, is what they've put out there. And I think there's some logic to that, theoretically.

One, what if there's an injury in the room? You know, that obviously could be problematic.

Like, what if Parker, you know, knock on wood, what if Parker Washington goes down? What if Jacoby Myers goes down? Obviously, there's some logic to that part of it. But man, he is just so, so uninvolved with this team. And I think one thing I want to kind of correct the record on here, obviously, we all know he's losing playing time to Josh Cameron, right? We know that part of it. Cameron is now, over the last two weeks, played 39 snaps to 69 for Brian Thomas Jr. If you just look at simply Parker Washington, he has played 99, Jacoby Myers is 102 Essentially, those are the one and two. It's obviously not even freaking close when it comes to that part of it. That being said, I think that's one part. We know that this guy, Josh Cameron, who I'm definitely overdue to chart. He actually finally ran 13 routes last week.

James Koh (2:59)

There you go. Perfect.

Matt Harmon (3:00)

That's double digits. I think that's enough for me to chart a game on him. So he'll be in the charting tracker on the website by the end of the week for sure. It won't take long. Thirteen routes is going to be pretty quick. A lot of run blocking snaps. I love the grit and effort that he's playing with right now is Josh Cameron. He earned a role in training camp, but it's come at the expense of Brian Thomas Jr. I think we know that part of it. The thing I think people are confusing here with BTJ is that while he is not getting targeted, he is not involved from a past distribution standpoint. Even these last two weeks, he has been targeted on 11 percent of his routes.

He's not a sacrificial X receiver.

He's not just playing X for this team. He's actually moving around all over the place. Yeah, certainly you could say he is a sacrificial receiver.

James Koh (3:52)

Yes.

Matt Harmon (3:53)

But even when he's run about over the course of the season, about 26 percent of his routes from the slot.

He's not just purely, Marvin Harrison Jr. was sacrificial X, outside on ball all the time, never kicks into the slot, is never off the ball. BTJ has at least run a few routes as the Z receiver. He's moved into the slot. He's just not getting the football at all. And frankly, like when I've charted him this year, I don't think he looks like a guy that's like, should be earning opportunity over a player like Parker Washington for sure, or even Jacoby Myers. And like, Brenton Strange is putting together a nice season as well. So I don't sit here and look at this and be like, man, Jacksonville is just wasting this talent, or like, oh my God, why are they not getting this guy the football? He just isn't playing in isolation, in my opinion, at the level of his rookie season. He's probably better than he was last year when he was playing through a lot of injuries, but we haven't rebounded to the point where I'm like, oh my God, they need to get this guy the rock. Now, so again, the question is, does that player who certainly does, I would say possess a vertical skill set and probably does cause defenses to account for him, but isn't just this pure sacrificial ex, is that more valuable to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who I think should view themselves as a Super Bowl contender, even though they almost pissed away the game last week in London?
