If you can generally do, your joints can move through the net, they have enough range of motion to do the things you need in life. You don't need to like sit around and just do mobility exercises. I think you should focus on strength training with control through full range of motion. Not only will you get stronger and you'll improve your movement control, but you'll also make sure that your mobility stays full.

Hi everyone, my name is Hailey.

And welcome to The Body Pod.

Welcome back to The Body Pod, Tom. We're so excited to hear all of your updates since we chatted last. You have your app live and you have these seven editions that are kind of your book. I'll let you explain it. But a lot has happened for you since we had you on last fall. So why don't you just give us an introduction of what you've been doing and how your app is going and anything that would be I guess, new to the audience since we had you on last time.

Tom Walters (0:58)

Amazing. Well, thank you again for having me back. It's so fun. I love chatting about all these topics related to pain and injury. So I appreciate you having me back. It's been a whirlwind. I try to keep things. I get bored quickly, I was telling you. So I like to have kind of new things in the chamber. And yeah, the app came out. You were a big inspiration for that, encouraging me to think about the app. So the app has been really cool. I think of it as having me as your physical therapist in your pocket, because it's a little bit more personalized. Because I think, I can't see everybody in person. That would be kind of the gold standard. They could come to the clinic, I could evaluate them with my hands, treat them. It's just hard, you can't do that. You just don't have enough hours to see everyone. So the books and YouTube and all these resources, the first book, it's been so cool to see all those help people.

But the app is just a way, I think, you know, like you have a community and you can have a little more personal interaction with people. I have office hours where I meet with people on Zoom, and it's sort of almost like group, almost like group coaching, like group physical therapy. So people ask their personal questions, and I can just be because that's the real power of physical therapy. The best type of physical therapy is someone who's listening to you and then prescribing exercises or using manual therapy interventions that are really specific to your symptoms or like any functional impairments you have. So, yeah, the app's been really fun. And then we basically took the big book, you know, the big book has chapters for each body region, like the shoulder chapter, there's the ankle chapter, you know, all those programs. Some people, that book is hard to carry. Like if you want to take it to the gym or for traveling.

Hailey (2:34)

Yes, I'm so glad that you broke it up because every time I would show it in my groups and I'd be like, you got to get this book. It's really heavy, it's really big, but it literally has everything. So you're right. I love that you came up with that.

Tom Walters (2:49)

Yeah, I mean, I think the big book is amazing that it has everything in one resource, but the idea with the small books was basically to make them portable. So like, and some people only want programs for one body region. Like they might only have a shoulder issue.

I mean, as you know, and I'm sure your audience, you know, most of us are gonna have pains probably in multiple areas throughout the body. So I think it's nice still. The big book is still the one I think is the most useful, especially if you are like a trainer or practitioner, or you're someone who has multiple body areas that flare up from time to time. But some people just want the small ones. So they're kind of like, I've got one here. Like they're all like, this is like, we took the back and spine chapter, made it its own kind of soft cover. They're just small. Like it's just, it's just spine rehab programs. So it's easy to take this like to the gym or if you're traveling. So there's seven of those. It's been, yeah, those come out May 26th. So new stuff around the corner all the time, which is so exciting.
