I need to switch my guest avatar being sick patients and their families to happy guests on vacation making happy memories. As I take that mindset of a nurse, life or death, if you're not prepared for something, something can go wrong and it's not gonna be good. I take that same drastic mindset to the guest experience. If they can't get in the house, that's the equivalent of your patient dying. If they don't have what they need, it's the same thing. So I really take that mindset into how I set up a property, how I look at a property physically, like, oh, this could be a problem.
We don't have this amenity or this, you know, we need more pots and pans, like whatever it might be. I really take that mindset. But one thing I've actually been working on a lot is a backend system for our business that is integrating where multiple pieces of information live into notion with the hospitality HQ template that we have. And that has been, you know, with 70 properties, we've got a lot of info out there.
I could have never focused on a task like that. And now, you know, I'm learning AI quite deeply and utilizing that to do this. So, you know, the realization that I do have all of my time to myself and what I'm going to do with that is still ongoing. And I'm not perfect at time management and project management.

What is going on, STR Nation? This is your host. I'm a brother from another mother, Emanuele Pani.
I am super grateful. I am getting ready to leave for Italy today in a couple of hours. You guys are actually one of the last things that I do today.
And it's one of those moments of reflection for me always. And I know I mentioned this, I think, on the last show as well. And it's just more and more as I, that they come closer. And what's funny is last year, I was a very different person and I had different worries and concerns.
And what's funny is this year, I'm a very different person, but I still have worries and concerns. And it's just a reminder to myself that worries and concerns are just features, right? They're just parts of life. And what we get to do, we have to choose how we approach them and also making peace. I think one of the big things that has shifted for me this year is that concept of peace, like really being in peace with the fact that what has happened over the last 10 months is what has happened, what hasn't happened hasn't happened, and it's not good or bad, it just is.
And I'm really grateful for all the stuff that has happened, and those are the right things. The other day I was talking to a group of people and I was telling them, look, nobody is going to limit what you can put on your plate. You can put as much as you want on it, but your stomach is your stomach, and so you're only going to be able to eat so much. And I don't know how you guys are, but I typically start with the stuff that I like the most. And so if your stomach is full because you've been eating the stuff that you like the most, but there's a bunch of stuff left on your plate, but your stomach is full and happy, why are we so concerned with what's left on the plate? Your belly is full of the stuff that you love. I think the problem becomes when you choose to make space, take up space in your stomach with the stuff that you don't love. And that's what's keeping you full and the stuff that you love is on the plate. And so what I realized for myself is this year, there is some stuff left on the plate and also my stomach is full of the stuff that I love. And so that's good. I'm happy. That's a good way to go about it. And I'm looking forward to the next four months to unplug, study, learn, and understand more and more of who I'm choosing to be, who I'm becoming type of thing. And so I'll be working on some exciting things.
This is episode 299
I'm recording episode 300 next week from Italy.
And it's going to be my last show for Secrets. And I am working on a new one. I don't know the name yet. I'm going to announce it next week. And so if you've been with me for all these years, hey, super grateful. And I'll give you guys proper flowers next week. But super grateful. And I would love to continue to spend time with you as I honestly just continue to figure out how to get the best me out of me.
