All right, here we go. Welcome, one and all, to Fifty Plus on this Friday afternoon. I thank you all for listening. Truly do appreciate it, as always. Lots of things to unpack around the world, and I'm probably gonna be leading with something that may surprise you. You might be thinking I would talk about something other than what I'm about to share, but I think it's really worth the listen, okay? In Denmark, one of the most progressive, welfare-happy countries on the planet, the liberals in charge there are pushing back against immigration by people who have no interest in assimilation and full interest in eventual takeover of that country. And they're doing so for one of two reasons, that nearly every country in the world either has closed their borders or is in the process of closing their borders to unchecked immigration. So here's the deal, and they've been working on this project for several years now. It's not something that happened overnight, but in Denmark, they finally figured out what every place that offers all this welfare finally figures out at some point, is that offering welfare to everyone in the country, including thousands upon thousands of people not interested in becoming Danes, well, that all put tremendous burden on the national purse. Much the same as it's done in our country after the former administration ushered in what literal millions of people about whom we know nothing, except that the left wants to bribe them into voting Democrat with free housing, free medical care, free meals, and a judicial system that quite often looks the other way on any but the most horrific of crimes committed by these people. But that's a different story. I digress there. So anyway, Denmark's done with paying for all those uninvited guests. And here's some of the stuff. Well, first of all, let me tell you why. They took a hard look after years of research, really, and coddling these people and waiting for assimilation that never happened. And it turns out these foreigners just aren't any more Danish now than when they arrived in the country years ago.
Despite being only 14 percent of the population, they account for more than 30 percent of the violent crime convictions there. And specifically, Somali immigrants had a conviction rate of 114 per 1,000 of them. So in Denmark, eight years ago, first thing they did was they banned burkas and facial coverings, in all public spaces. First offense is going to cost you 1,000 kroner. Second offense, 10,000 kroner. Human rights organizations just lost their minds, screaming Islamophobic and Denmark didn't care. But here's the deal. It also created a so-called, Denmark did, not yet, but Denmark also created so-called ghetto rules. I don't know why they picked that word.
But anyway, in which crimes committed inside those zones carried double the punishment had the same crime been committed elsewhere. And to really rock the liberals, toddlers as young as one year old in Denmark are required by law to attend 25 hours a week in care centers where they're taught Danish customs and culture, Christmas traditions, democratic norms, gender equality and more. And if parents refuse to send their children to those state run centers, they lose their welfare checks. And because of all these changes they've made over there by doing that and just a lot more, I think Denmark has a real chance of maintaining its identity and its culture. Over here, we're allowing very similarly troubling behavior among immigrants to go unchecked. Even like much of Europe now, even protecting the undocumented immigrants and putting their rights ahead of those of our own citizens. Lots to unpack, I know. But so anyway, so all of that brings me to something else I wanted to share. The story of a woman who grew up in Iran. She grew up in Iran as a child and watched the takeover of her country by Islamic extremists.
But those extremists didn't accomplish that takeover on their own.
She's a plastic surgeon now in Los Angeles and a public speaker. Her name is Dr. Sheila Nazarian, and I listened to several minutes of her cautioning Americans about what's happening right here and right now. She explains it brilliantly, too. First she said, back over there in Iran when she was a young woman, socialists and Islamists formed this odd alliance based on their common goal of overthrowing the Shah.
