Hey everyone, welcome to Served. Producer Mike GW., techie Sean, we're all here in the house.
Before we get to racket rundown, brought to you by Wilson, Mike, you had, you just itching, you feel like you have a question.
SPEAKER_5 (1:43)
There's a good one that Sean and I saw. If I told you at the beginning of 2026 that by the end of the season, a Spaniard would have 33 wins with three titles, who would you think I was talking about?
Andy Roddick (1:56)
Oh yeah, they, Hodar.
SPEAKER_5 (1:58)
No, it'd be, it'd be one Carlos Alcaraz who has 33 wins currently in three titles. Yeah. But also one Davidovich Fokina has 33 wins in three titles.
Andy Roddick (2:08)
I was lying when I said Hodar, by the way. Well, Fokina also.
SPEAKER_5 (2:12)
He's basically Carlos Alcaraz. Great.
Andy Roddick (2:16)
We just lost like three quarters of our audience for the week. Great to go. Congratulations. Good, good stuff.
Also the narrative we know around Fokina forever was what?
SPEAKER_5 (2:27)
Couldn't finish. He was on five or something, right?
Andy Roddick (2:29)
Yeah. Welcome to, welcome to winner winner.
Masters 1000 style. Yeah, that's 1000 That's big. You get some, you get some kind of sneaky winners in that. Excuse me. You get some sneaky winners in that fall session too. You know, we get the old sneaky Vashiro and the old Folkina getting in there, but you know, credit to him. I thought he played great. Goes through Zverev goes through Hodar. I mean, it's not as if it didn't feel like, you know, the draw opened up and there was opportunity knocking for everyone unexpected. Right. I, you know, even he kind of just got through her Koch, you know, we don't want to run in his parade and say that he folded two points from the wind again. And it looked like he couldn't walk. And then he won the match and then won the tournament. We're not going to mention that.
But then he goes on and beats Zverev. He goes on and beats Hodar. I mean, that's a, it's just a great win all around. Fantastic win. You know, and it's certainly shed the label of best not to have won a tour title pretty quickly and violently, JW.
Jon Wertheim (3:37)
Man, remember Roland Garros when this guy has a lot of chaos. He's one of these guys who's thoroughly likable. He's very accessible. He sort of, you know, he talks about he shitting. I shot my bed. I shot. I shot my pants and lost the match. I mean, this guy is uninhibited.
So remember Roland Garros when he and his coach Mariano Puerta, we talked about this on the show.
SPEAKER_5 (4:01)
Like on an off day or something, right?
Jon Wertheim (4:03)
Yeah, exactly. Literally he's in the draw and his coach is like, you know, tweeting and showing himself flying back to South America after this breakup. He had not won a title at that point, DavidovichFokina. That was what he was best known for. And now this is title number three. You guys watch, I always think a little random, but you guys watch Top Chef. I sort of look at his game and he's like, you know, total chaos agent, pretty good foot speed, good athlete, not the strongest serve. I can work with that.
