That's what I always say, you always follow the money. This is Follow the Money with Mitch Moss and Pauly Howard on VSiN.

Mitch Moss (0:10)

Thanks for watching, as always on YouTube TV, listening on SiriusXM Channel 189, iHeartRadio, TuneIn Radio, or any of our great affiliates. Much more on the game that we have coming up tonight. Seahawks, small favorites on the road against Denver. Both teams need it. Paul, you said yesterday, Loser leaves town for the division. We will expand on the game right now as we go out to the progressive guest line. Rob Stanton joins the program. He does a great job. seahawksdrapblog.com, senior sports journalist with VBC as well. Hey, Rob, thanks for the time today. How are you?

Rob Staton (0:38)

Anytime, guys. I wish it was a little bit better for the Seahawks though. I think they're already looking up at the Niners and I think that division, like you say, if they lose today, I think that's it. I think the San Francisco 49ers are going to hold off the Rams as well, and they're going to win the NFC West even though it's only the middle of October.

Mitch Moss (0:54)

I know. I'm right there with you. So we talked about this earlier in the show, like Bo Nix has been terrible, but I don't think he can get lost with Sam Darnold as well. The numbers, I mean, they don't lie.

Second worst QBR at ESPN, he EPA per play, he ranks 39th out of quarterbacks who have thrown a pass and his average depth of target is 36 in the league. I mean, clearly, it's not going well. Like, what's the level of concern here, and what do you think the problem is?

Rob Staton (1:18)

Major concern. There's two problems. One, Sam Darnold's not playing very well. He's too hesitant. He's not seeing the field. At times, it feels as if, okay, this is the play designed to go to Rashid Shahid, so he'll stare him down, and he is throwing to Rashid Shahid, whether he's covered or not. And then the TV broadcast will show that Jackson Smith and Jigba, who might be the best receiver in the NFL, currently is wide open. Why is he not looking his way? And it's become a bit of a mess. But he's also not being helped by these three things. One, the offensive line is terrible. Two, the running game is terrible. Three, the new offensive coordinator can't seem to get anybody involved in the passing game apart from Smith and Jigba. So part of the blame goes to Sam Darnold and part of the blame goes to the fact that nothing else apart from JSN is working on the Seahawks offense.

Pauly Howard (2:08)

Yeah, that's a great answer. Does the running game get back on track when they get Charbonnet back?

Rob Staton (2:14)

That's what they're going to hope for, but there's no guarantee. He's been out for just nine months with an ACL. He's made quite a quick recovery, but they seem to be keen to give him as much time as possible. There's been a report or two suggesting to be back for the Chiefs game. They need him back and they need him back at his best. If he doesn't get there and if Judarian Price is going to miss some time on injured reserve with this weird rib injury that he's got, you wonder if they go into the trade market and see if there's somebody out there that they can bring in, because I'm afraid to say Emmanuel Wilson and George Allardy are not getting the job done so far.

Mitch Moss (2:48)

Well, and how do you think that goes tonight specifically? Chabardet is not back yet and those two guys that you just talked about are the basically the only guys that they can throw out there at this point. And Wilson's gotten a bunch of carries last couple of games, also more involved in the passing attack. And don't forget, Alani had that huge fumble near the goal line last week. They gave the 49 or seven points. So what do you think this is going to look like tonight with those two guys in the backfield?

Rob Staton (3:11)

They're going to have to just persevere with it. I suspect that it will mainly be Emmanuel Wilson. I wonder if George Allardy might see less action. It was frankly preposterous that on Sunday against the 49ers that George Alardy not only had a reasonable part to play in the game plan, but also had the second most targets on an offense that has some really good weapons, a couple of good tight ends, Cooper Cope, Torrey Horton, who only had, I think, 11 snaps in the game. And George Alardy is your second leading receiver. So there's some problems that they need to work out. I think it's going to be a real, I don't think the Seahawks problems are going to be solved tonight.
