Welcome. This is Solo Podcast. I don't know how I feel about this. I mean, in general, I think it's a neat idea. I just mean for me. I don't know.
Listen, I have no problem talking. I quite enjoy talking. As I'm sure you know, I like to overthink. I over talk.
But this might be too much talking of just me. I mean, I really like bouncing ideas off people. I like riffing off people.
But I thought it would be nice just to sort of give an update of where we're at in the podcast. I did a solo podcast several months ago, and I kind of posted it with my hand over my eyes, like, oh boy, here we go. I'm so sorry about this. And the response was actually pretty favorable. It was actually really nice. People were really nice about it. So I guess I'm just talking to you.
So hopefully that's okay. We have not completed all of our AMC-ordered podcast episodes yet, because we did 10 of them, and then summer happened. And then a lot of people in the entertainment industry go have a summer. And then we went and had a summer. And I hope you had a summer. Technically, we're still having a summer. But I know school has just started back. By the way, I want to just do a general check for the late millennials and Gen Xers and older. Is summer shorter now, like the school year? Because I feel like we used to get back in the 1900s, we would get like, wasn't it like three months? Or am I just distorting time because when you're younger, it just like things feel longer? I don't know. Now I feel like it's like two months.
I thought it was like up to around Labor Day, we'd go back to school. But now it's like, nope, two months, back to school. Did that change? Did something happen in like the early 2000s where parents were like, too much summertime, we need some us time now. So back to school with you. Like, I don't know what happened or it was just it's very difficult to, you know, for people to take three months off of work and then not know what to do with the with the kiddos. So they're like, yeah, starting school sooner again would be an option. So I don't know if that's what happened. But I am curious if summer, if the school summer seems shorter now. I don't know. I don't know. I also kind of feel like my timelines are all, as you start to get older, your timelines get a little warped and things feel shorter and some things feel longer ago. And so I don't know. I have no idea. But it seems to me that summer break is now only two months and I feel like it used to be three.
I mean, I guess technically at one point in history it was 12 At one point in history there were no months. It was just a lot of moons. The comings and goings of the moons. And then they would, I don't know. I don't know what would happen then. But now I feel like with this calendar and the school year, that it's like now it's like two months and get back with you. So I hope you had a summer. I hope you're able to enjoy your summer. And so as I said, we did 10 episodes before the summer break. We saw a few episodes left in our order from AMC.
And then we'll see what happens. They're not a podcast company, so they wouldn't like, they wouldn't, I was like, hey, why don't you pick up 50 episodes? And they're like, yeah, we're a television network. We don't necessarily do that. So they're picking us up in seasonal chunks. So we'll see. So in between, I don't know, I guess we can all figure this out together. I guess in between, we could just take a break, or I could do some solo episodes, or I mean, I always love talking to Mike Furman. So we could do some of those Mike Furman episodes. We could have some guests on. They just, they wouldn't be video episodes. They wouldn't be those fancy video episodes that my friends at Drama 34 are producing. I just gotta say, such a great visual iteration of the podcast. I really love what we were doing visually. I know I resisted video for so long. You know, in the early days of podcasting, when we started 15 years ago, which might as well have been 100 years ago, just the way time and technology evolve, it just sort of felt like, I don't know, if video creates a different dynamic, and then people don't know if they need hair and makeup, and then is there wardrobe clearance? Are they allowed to wear logos? There's just a lot of TV things that get in the way. But now it's just so standard, and all the people who started video early were really smart about it, and I was like, no! I'm going to stick to these old audio ways. And then at a certain point, the rest of podcasting just blew past me, and now everyone does video. And now I'm like, here I come with my own, let me turn the crank on my video car. All right? And now here we are doing video, but I really love, I love how it looks. I love the, I love clipping it out, as the social media experts say, and the clips have been doing great. But, you know, I also really like it to be nice and easy, nice and relaxed, because, you know, my wife and I are full-time parents. So like, the energy required to do a full-time video podcast if you're able to do it, my hat's off to you if you're able to do it and also be a full-time parent.
