Joseph Shalaby (0:37)
The actor, boxer?
Ronald Gavril (0:39)
Yes. Champion. Yes. The champion from LA, right?
Joseph Shalaby (0:42)
Yes. Well, he said that he could take you.
Ronald Gavril (0:45)
I'm just kidding. He didn't say that.
Joseph Shalaby (0:47)
Don't tell him I told you that.
Ronald Gavril (0:49)
I'm kidding. Maybe she made that. I don't know. He's retired from boxing, I think.
Well, let's see.
Joseph Shalaby (0:55)
We'll have to see what Victor Ortiz says, huh?
Ronald Gavril (0:57)
Okay. Let's make it happen.
Joseph Shalaby (0:58)
I'm just kidding. The drama. I'm just trying to create some.
Ronald Gavril (1:00)
You know drama is my job. It's my job.
It's no drama.
Joseph Shalaby (1:04)
Oh, perfect, Ronald.
Ronald Gavril (1:05)
Come on over here.
Joseph Shalaby (1:06)
Follow me. I have your coffee. Ready?

Ronald Gavril (1:52)
Yes, yesterday. All the way from Vegas.
Joseph Shalaby (1:55)
You got any big plans while you're here in Newport Beach? We got to celebrate.
Ronald Gavril (1:58)
I came for this podcast first, and after that, I have flight to Romania tomorrow.
Joseph Shalaby (2:04)
Flight to Romania? You're flying out of John Wayne?
Ronald Gavril (2:06)
Yes.
Joseph Shalaby (2:07)
It's a great airport, so it's worth it. Yes.
Ronald, I'd like to start the question off the same way I ask every guest, but for you, I'm going to learn a lot here. What's your morning routine?
Ronald Gavril (2:18)
My morning routine is to wake up, drink water, go to the restroom, and just first hour I didn't eat nothing, just drink water, coffee. Sometimes I make the juice with ginger. So after that, I have the big meal like protein, eggs, very good meal. So after that, gym, going to my routine, my boxing schedule, right? Go to boxing gym.
So this is my morning for me.
Joseph Shalaby (2:55)
So then it's like working out. How many hours do you train a day?
Ronald Gavril (2:58)
When I'm in training camp for a fight, it's like two hours in the morning and two in the afternoon.
One and a half, two and a half, it's four hours a day. Yeah.
Joseph Shalaby (3:06)
So you're in camp right now?
Ronald Gavril (3:08)
Yes, I'm in camp. I'm prepared for my next fight.
Joseph Shalaby (3:11)
So what's life like when you're in a camp? It's two hours of training and then like, what do you do in between the next training session?
Ronald Gavril (3:20)
It's my life from long time ago was like, like very disciplined life. You know, everything was about to stay in shape, to stay out through problems, to stay out from clubs, to have the good session, the good coach, to get to improve every day, to get better and better, to challenge all the great champions.
This is my, this is my program. It's sport 24 hours and discipline.
Joseph Shalaby (3:48)
Yeah, I mean, you're from Europe. So Europe, you know, is crazy. You guys party all night long and it's like, the schedules are inverted over there.
You know, people go to bed at six in the morning in Europe.
Ronald Gavril (4:00)
Some of them, yeah, I guess.
Joseph Shalaby (4:03)
So like, do you think that your discipline has really helped you like withstand that temptation?
Ronald Gavril (4:12)
Yes, yes. I come from a very good family. We are four brothers, one sister. Mom and dad give us a good education to stay in the line, to stay out from troubles, from drugs, from alcohol, from all of that. So I grew up with this mentality. So it was not very hard for me to deal with that.
