But first, you know, just looking up at the news, before we get into Crap on Celebrities, and I saw this huge fire over in your old hometown, DuCoin, Illinois.

I know. Like it's a double whammy. Oh no. Massive fire, downtown DuCoin, which isn't huge, by the way. And it's already, every time I drive through, I feel like there's a business closed down. You know, it's that small town factor every time you go through and...

Yeah, we know Shel Baena real well. And every time you describe DuCoin, it sounds like Shel Baena.

Yeah, it's like one old building somehow magically... A fire started.

It says multiple businesses were destroyed. It originated at Home Lumber Company, so a lumber yard caught on fire, which has been the total loss. BJ's Garden Inn has been there a long time. Crossman Wholesale Supply and an auto parts store were also destroyed. Basically one side of the street of an entire block of the downtown business district burned.

Is it one of those main streets where every building is either connected or is it just kind of stacked?

It was like an old school. It felt like an old downtown.
It had that old feeling of all the businesses of the 1950s, of the prosperous era.

Hopefully they don't do what Shalbina did.

It was a five alarm fire. EMS crews came in from surrounding areas. They were using water shuttles hauling water from the state fairgrounds because the city lake needed such an enormous amount of water to fight the blaze. Timing made things even more complicated because the Du Quoin state fair is happening right now, which is a huge economic influx for Du Quoin. So like all these businesses benefit from fairgoers and tourism. Main Street was closed Wednesday evening.
Fire marshal warned fairgoers to stay away from downtown because of road closures.
The scale of it, man, losing four businesses in the heart of a relatively small community like that is just devastating. And the logistics are bad. I feel bad for my hometown, man. I saw a lot of people posting about it this morning on Facebook. And I think firefighters, you know, it was 100 degrees too on top of everything else. Like firefighters were getting overheated and dehydrated because of the heat. Inside the suits, you got a fire and it's also 100 plus temperatures. There were no injuries or deaths, which is, that's a bonus. But man, shout out, I'll love going to my hometown of DuCoin because I know that is tough and you're already taking a lot of hits over the last 20 years.
