The date was November 26th of 2024, and the San Francisco Police Department were responding to calls for a welfare check at a Buchanan Street apartment building in San Francisco's Mint Hill neighborhood called Alchemy Apartments.

The welfare check came about after Fornima Ramaral being unable to reach her 26-year-old son, Suchir Balaji, for three days, which was very uncharacteristic of him.

Aside from the responding officer, whose name is redacted in all public releases, there were three firefighters and a building property manager that would go up to the apartment at approximately 1:15 p.m. Pacific time. They would note that the deadbolt was locked, so they would breach the doorway to make entry inside. Upon busting the door open, the group was hit immediately with an unmistakable stench of death. While the entryway lobby seemed neat and untouched, there was a distinct progression of disorder the further that they went in. In the living room and joined dining room area, there was a recent takeout order, only partially eaten, as well as a laptop on the table that was open and for some reason still active and without any password protection. None of this really meant anything to the group at the time, and it wasn't what they had come for.

As they made their way into the hallway, they would discover the first signs of what they were looking for.

There was a splatter of blood across the lower part of the door leading into the bathroom, as well as a pool that was out in the hallway. As they made their way up to the bathroom door, it immediately became apparent that they were far too late to help Suchir. They would find him laying on his back with a brutal looking wound on his forehead and a large pool of his own blood. There was blood all over as well, in more than one pool, splatter across the bathroom counter and sink area, and all the way up to the upper tiles above the bathtub. Beneath his right leg, CSI would later discover the Glock 9mm pistol that they determined was responsible for his death. The determination of the crime scene by SFPD was a suicide. Nearly three months later, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner, or OCME, would confirm the initial ruling. Just a tragic death at their own hands by a guy who would quit his job, drink twice the legal limit of alcohol, potentially drugged himself, and then violently took his own life in his bathroom while looking into his mirror.

Or, at least, that is what the San Francisco Police Department would have you believe. Unfortunately, there are some very serious issues with all of that.

Issues that when taken together seem to clearly point towards a very different event having taken place that day. Before we can understand that evidence, or the potential motivation behind all of it, it would first be useful to understand who exactly Suchir Balaji actually was. So, welcome or welcome back to Clandestine Radio. As always, I'm your host DeJaswa, and tonight I have a very wild and very important ride planned for you. We will not only have a much better understanding of that death by the time we're finished, but of AI and its dangerous potentials, of OpenAI and its co-founder and main public face Sam Altman, data centers, and what you can do to help ensure that we aren't just racing towards a singularity that could easily spell the end of humanity, or, at very least, humanity as we know it. Due to the technical nature and the density of this material, we have opted to make this a much more easily digestible two-part episode. But even with that being said, it might be a good time to grab a handy-dandy notebook, because we have a lot to cover, and all of it is important. Maybe grab a stiff drink to go along with it. And let's open up file 005, The Silence Protocol, AI. Power, its Leadership, and the death of Suchir Balaji.
