Good morning, Matt Waldman. Week three, almost in the book, still one game tonight. It was kind of a rough outing this week. Hello, everybody, I'm Bob Harris.

He's Matt Waldman. You can find our work at Football Guys, his work at the Rookie Scouting Portfolio, mattwaldman.com is the place to access all that. And we're here to do a quick rundown of the things we noticed from yesterday's games, besides people getting hurt. Well, and some of that too. Matt, how are you?

Matt Waldman (0:29)

Pretty good. We got an update coming for the Dynasty rankings and projections over the next two to three days.

So that'll work out. Get that, get that rolling. And top 10 coming in probably tomorrow morning. That's when most people will get a chance to see it. So, you know, a lot of tape watching last night. And, you know, just studying prospects, Bob, how about you?

Bob Harris (0:56)

I just got that tiger by the tail and trying to hang on as it drags me through the dirt. That's like every NFL season is a joyous process. The month of September more joyous usually than most. And, and like, you know, I mean, every week you sit down and watch games and you'd like to think, man, this is the day that everyone comes out in one piece and it's never that week in the NFL. So we'll discuss some things and maybe you get to talk about the adjustments you'll need to make with your rosters heading into week four.

And we'll start it out with the Miami running back Devon Achan this morning announced kind of what we knew yesterday, torn ACL, his season is over. Ollie Gordon got the bulk of the workload, but only because Jalen Wright was out already and Malik Washington took some turns and who knows maybe we'll see Jarquez Hunter promoted from the practice squad. But does it matter who the running back is in Miami for fantasy GMs?

Matt Waldman (1:51)

It might if it's a veteran.

But I would say that you're not getting a gold mine because of the Miami offense. I just did a piece on Devon H and in last week's gut check, looking at him and Malik Willis. When you look at that offense, one of the problems with that offense is that in order to make Malik Willis a productive quarterback in it, they want to leverage his legs, which makes total sense. But the problem with that in terms of how they've gone about it is that Malik Willis is best when he's reading one side of the field. He's best when you can get him outside the pocket, or he can break containment in the pocket.

So there's a lot of things Miami's doing where they take Malik Willis and they roll him to one side, they move the running back to the opposite side of the field because he's the decoy, or they have the running back go out for a pass on the side that Malik Willis is rolling to, but he's breaking in a manner, and the routes are breaking in a manner, away from the quarterback so that they can give him a rushing lane if one opportunity really isn't open. And usually that opportunity has come and gone before Willis has even gotten outside. So it's a limited offense in terms of how good it is, the experience level of players, and then also what's done to enable Malik Willis to use his legs. So it limits the running backs ability in the receiving game. And then also in the rushing game, it hasn't been that great. You can see that teams have just been saying, go ahead and stop us, go ahead, we'll go ahead and stop the run for the most part. We'll let you try and beat us with Malik Willis' arm. And it's not happening.

Bob Harris (3:53)

So let me just ask this and associate question, is Willis getting better?

Matt Waldman (3:58)

I'm sure he's incrementally getting better, but is he getting better for fantasy GMs? No.

Bob Harris (4:04)

I think that's fair. So right now people are out there and looking at their waiver wire. Is Ollie Gordon too or Jalen Wright the answer?

Matt Waldman (4:12)

I would say it's going to be a committee. And the answer is probably to to let someone else take those two and see if they get a veteran of any import who they could who you go. Oh, you know what? That's a pretty good running back.

Probably better than those two guys. Let's let's take a chance with them off the waiver wire. That's what I would probably do.
