Well, here we are. Week one is almost in the books. Still got the Monday night game to go. The Chiefs and the Denver Broncos should be a rollicking affair, but so was Sunday. There was tons of scoring. It was an offensive showcase, and it was fantastic. I loved every, well, most every minute of it, not a ton of injuries, so we like that. Matt Waldman.
It's not my fault.
Matt Waldman (0:23)
It's not my fault he got hurt, okay?
Bob Harris (0:25)
I'm just saying.
Matt Waldman (0:27)
I'm sorry he got hurt. It was awful, but it was not my fault.
Bob Harris (0:32)
It was a tough day. All right, we'll get into all that.
Matt Waldman (0:34)
All right.
Bob Harris (0:34)
I'm Bob Harris. He's Matt Waldman. This is the Feel It or It podcast, and we're going to react to some of the things we saw or didn't see yet in Monday's games. We discussed them either way, and it sort through some of the big performances, poor performances, and things that stood out to us over the course of the weekend. I want to ask you this first since you brought it up.
By the way, find all Matt's work at mattwaldman.com. He's got the portfolio stuff on going. We'll talk more about it. Football guys from both of our work, Sirius XM, Fancy Sports Radio, and NFL Radio for me. It's endless people. You can't miss us, but you're here for this. So let's feel and fuck. Wait, let's come to Carson West. He's Minnesota's best quarterback, Feel It or, Kaelon.
Matt Waldman (1:16)
Well, right now for sure. But let's say, I would say it's probably way too early to just judge by the really awful decision that Kyler Murray made to throw the ball up for grabs. But you know, we could probably get Lamar Jackson and have, there's some plays where Lamar Jackson has done that in the past. So, I will say Minnesota is going to say absolutely fuck that idea.
It's Kyler Murray. But I would say Minnesota is kind of a franchise that seems to be going on tilt ever since Sam Darnold basically went bonkers last year in Seattle. So, I want to say Feel It mainly just because Carson Wentz tends to know how to maneuver a pocket and at least make some plays that he's not as, he's the least talented quarterback probably of the three that are there. But I would say he is probably the best combination of talent and experience. I'll put it that way.
Bob Harris (2:26)
Is it possible Matt that he's the best suited to Kevin O'Connell's offense or that Kevin O'Connell is better at dealing with him than he is to the other quarterbacks?
Matt Waldman (2:39)
I would say that the latter is definitely true and mainly because Wentz has played enough offenses at this point and been around, he kind of knows what his role is and he would like to be able to prove that he probably would still like to be able to prove that he's more than what he's been cast in.
Bob Harris (3:01)
Yeah.
Matt Waldman (3:02)
So I think that there's that. I also just think that he understands his strengths and weaknesses better than either of the quarterbacks that have been on the roster. So I think that's probably what it is. He's gonna spread the ball around better. I think that he understands how to read defenses better.
And so as a result of that, you kind of know what you're going to get from him. Defenses kind of know too. So, you know, it's one of those deals where against good defenses, he's not going to be so good. Against bad defenses, he's going to be pretty darn good.
Bob Harris (3:40)
For our purposes, he seems to have a connection with Justin Jefferson, and that matters to us. And that's what I like best about him. And maybe Kyler Murray establishes that obviously didn't get much of a chance in this one. He mentioned the bad decision that kind of is going to be a thing that, other than getting his helmet ripped off and his head smashed, will be the thing that we remember most about Kyler Murray in week one. So we'll see if they can turn things around here. But it seems likely we'll see Carson once again this week. He will get the start of Kyler Murray's and ready to go.
Jaxson Dart, Matt, taken to this new Giants offense.
Matt Waldman (4:14)
Yeah, I think he said, fuck that. Whatever I've been talking about for the past year and a half, two years, but it's, you know, we'll look at it this way.
