Holy cow, Matt Waldman, week four rolls on, and it took a little bit of a toll yesterday. Again, we're gonna talk about this. I'm Bob Harris, he's Matt Waldman. This is the Feel It or Fuck It podcast, where we are going to do just that with a series of questions. We're gonna feel it or fuck it.

I this week, man. Like nothing I expected to happen happened. More players were hurt. I think we're at the point where every year we're asking ourselves, Matt, the question, are the injuries worse than ever? And the answer is always no, but it sure feels like it in the moment.

Matt Waldman (0:35)

Yeah, I mean, I think we're just seeing the reality of the NFL, which is it's a brutal league in terms of what it, you know, in terms of the toll it takes on players. And, you know, I was listening to Eric Dickerson talk about that recently.

And so, you know, I mean, I think every player we've seen in retirement, you know, it's just tough. I mean, we're probably going to be watching flag football in about 30, 40 years. I think that's probably where it's going to go.

Bob Harris (1:06)

It's easy to, you know, just take for granted. But like, you know, and I know you do this carefully watching, you know, every carry of a running back 15 to 20 times a game, the violence of those collisions every single game are, it's amazing that they go through that. But then they come back again the next week and do it again. So football is a tough sport, fantasy football, a tough game. We're here to try to help you a little bit.

We realize, we understand volatility and variance. There are going to be problems. The right processes don't always yield the right results. But we're going to give it a go nonetheless. Matt, what's going on at rookie scouting portfolio that people must know about right now?

Matt Waldman (1:45)

Well, I just emailed out the rankings and projections update for September.

You're getting a fully updated projection set from the end of the month. I didn't include week four as part of my factoring because I finished that on Saturday. You also get the win now rankings. Those were fully updated along with the rankings list, where you get to see changes from last month to this month. I did a little bit of updating of the rankings for the long build, but I didn't update the long list with the changes to the rankings for that because there weren't a lot of changes for it. That's in your inbox as of probably five minutes ago.

Bob Harris (2:32)

Better be.

Matt Waldman (2:33)

Yeah. Let's say better be. Check my inbox. We're a little bit late on that, but it is September in the onslaught. I wanted to wait at least three weeks to do projections, but I didn't want to wait a full four because then I'd be into mid-October and then the RSP newsletter for the people who get the draft guide. That should be out sometime this week for September. I know it's a little bit later than that, but with the NFL starts-

Bob Harris (2:59)

This is how you round up you mean.

Matt Waldman (3:00)

Yeah, pretty much. That's what I mean now because I mean, the NFL starts in practically mid-September at this point, so I'm kind of rolling with the NFL. That's my excuse, but yeah, it's a little bit late, but I'll get that out this week.

Bob Harris (3:16)

We'll look forward to that. Meanwhile, you can find all our other work, my work at footballguys.com, Matt's work there as well. Multiple articles each week. You'll find this podcast available every Monday. Let's dive in and start the feeling of fucking show. Deshaun Watson, quarterback 13 through the first four games, just as we expected.

Is it too soon to anoint him?

Matt Waldman (3:41)

Yeah, I think it's a little too soon. Mainly because when you watch him, they're doing a good job in Todd Monken's offense to find matchups where he gets easier throws. He's always been a good quarterback where you can throw the short game or maybe throw the deep post.

He's someone who can throw the ball deep, get it over the head of the defenders, and then there's throws that he can make that are in the quick game per se, and then scramble to be able to create. You can do those three things and you have really strong talent around you, you can be a productive fantasy quarterback, and he's on the edge of doing that. I would just say that he still makes enough throws that you watch and you say, this could all fall apart very quickly with him. I think that one of the things we have to watch is the interceptable throws that he makes, some of the plays that he makes, where he's just a little off schedule, and that the defense is playing a little bit better than what the Steelers were doing last week. So I think that the buzz is, there's reason for buzz to be gaining, but I don't think we're going to see the Deshaun Watson that we saw in Houston early to mid-career.
