Good morning, everybody. I'm Bob Harris. He's Matt Waldman. He's very busy, so we're going to get on with this thing before we cost him any more time. He's got a lot of administrative duties going on. With the rookie scouting portfolio, mattwaldman.com. What's going on there, Matt?

Matt Waldman (0:13)

Man, well, we're knee deep into the season. Maybe we're even hip deep into the season at this point. So, I mean, a lot of fun stuff, some players kind of emerging this week, or at least poking their heads out of the hole, and we're getting a chance to see whether or not they're going to climb their way out and start making their presence known on a regular basis.

Bob Harris (0:33)

I think the Eagles, the Chargers, the Colts, and a few others would like to say it's like chest deep.

Sorry to do that. If you didn't hear, a general manager, Chris Ballard, got the axe today. Too bad he listened to Matt Waldman and I about Anthony Richardson Senior. That'll cost him dearly in the future, but we'll discuss all these things.

Matt Waldman (0:52)

I'll argue it was Daniel Jones was the coach killer.

Bob Harris (0:55)

Well, no, that is absolutely true, but it was a combination of things. It was not, you know, some trades, some failures to land, some other positions as well. But, but paying Alec Pierce, who has been hurt and Daniel Jones coming off in Achilles, were probably the final straws that broke the camel's back, or the ballard's back, so to speak.

Matt Waldman (1:15)

More like posts on the, you know, masts on a ship falling on them.

Bob Harris (1:21)

Well, you know, if we're going to talk about these failed personnel moves at some point, and by the way, week six is almost in the books, people. We're rolling along. There's been some rising stars, some horrible disappointments. Jaylin Hurts now out for the season for Philadelphia on the blood thinners, had multiple blood clots in his lungs even apparently. So they will take his-

Matt Waldman (1:43)

All the best to him.

Bob Harris (1:44)

Yeah, they'll take his health under consideration. Although I would suggest they could have done that a little sooner. Apparently he spent the entire night in the hospital before the London game that he played in.

And he was up until morning because they didn't want him to sleep because they thought it was a risk. But going out and playing a game against the Jaguars that morning was okay. Well, there will be a lot more on this I'm sure.

Matt Waldman (2:07)

We need to find new ways to define what NFL actually means.

Bob Harris (2:14)

Well, we know what it means.

As we move into the personnel blunder category as we were talking about Chris Ballard, Ashton Jeanty, Sunday he had 10 carries, 22 yards in a touchdown, was held under three yards per carry for the fourth time in six games. The Bills were not a great defense going into this one, but his rushing numbers this season have been subpar for a player taken inside the top 10 of last year's draft. Mike Washington, heir apparent to Ashton Jeanty, and is it going to happen tomorrow? Feel it or fuck it?

Matt Waldman (2:45)

Oh, fuck no. He had some nice numbers.

Bob Harris (2:49)

I set it up so well.

Matt Waldman (2:50)

He had a, you did, you set it up beautifully, you know? And everybody was looking forward to my spike on that one, except for Raiders fans and Mike Washington fans, which there are numerous amounts of those guys. But listen, Mike Washington, he's got good size, he's got acceleration, he's got speed, people like that. When you can get him into open space or give him a big crease early, he does a nice job with that. But when it comes to the nuanced runs that Ashton Jeanty actually is making, when his ankle and foot have been healthy, and even when they haven't been so healthy before they start deteriorating, he's done okay. Looking at his tape a couple of weeks ago for the length of the season, he's actually been pretty nuanced with the holes that he hits, and he's been a smart runner and I think he's made good decisions overall. You can see where the improvement is with that offensive line and it's with running more gap plays. And Jeanty is still on track to probably equal, if not surpass, what he did last year in fantasy. When you look, but the problem is the plan or fascia, is that going to get worse? Probably so.

And will that put Mike Washington into the game? Yes. And he will probably give you some big plays. But when it comes to the runs that Jeanty made that helped Kirk Cousins stay on schedule, not so much. He's an inefficient runner. You see a lot of jump cuts and jump stops where he ends up overshooting the creases that are actually there. He needs big creases to make his plays, kind of like Omarian Hampton in that respect. So you're going to get more of an up and down guy if they have to lean on him more. Which means for fantasy, if you're just looking for fantasy short term, he may give you running back to value, running back flex value probably most likely.
