We went to an amazing restaurant Friday night. Shiso is the name of this restaurant. Wonderful food. The owner of this restaurant, Chamath, is a super fan as well of TheAllInPodcast.
**Philippe Laffont** (0:12)
Is that a French restaurant, Jason?
**Jason Calacanis** (0:13)
Shiso was more like an Asian fusion restaurant, like Great Sushi, we had this incredible-
**Chamath Palihapitiya** (0:18)
It was delicious. Delicious.
**Jason Calacanis** (0:20)
Just aces all the way. The guy comes and we go to pay.
**Chamath Palihapitiya** (0:26)
He says- Oh my God, Philippe, listen to this story, this is the most embarrassing-
**Jason Calacanis** (0:29)
Your money is no good here. Your money is no good here, AllIn. He refuses to let us pay. After we ran up a hell of a bill, and now you see Friedberg's running, Friedberg just ran off the show. Why did he run off the show, Chamath?
**Chamath Palihapitiya** (0:41)
Okay, so Jason says to me, Chamath-
**David Friedberg** (0:46)
This is absolute- This is an absolute bullshit story that you guys made up. You guys make this shit up. We didn't make entertainment out of me.
**Chamath Palihapitiya** (0:53)
I'll tell you the truth. Okay, I'll just tell the truth.
**David Friedberg** (0:56)
You tell me the truth. I'll tell you the truth.
**Chamath Palihapitiya** (0:58)
Okay, ready? I'm going to tell the truth. So Jason says, guys-
**David Friedberg** (1:01)
Bullshit. I'll see you guys later.
**Chamath Palihapitiya** (1:03)
If they're-
**Jason Calacanis** (1:03)
I don't care. It's not like he's going to talk for more than three minutes anyway. Go ahead.
**Chamath Palihapitiya** (1:09)
You said if they're going to comp all the food, just make sure you give a great tip.
**Jason Calacanis** (1:13)
Huge tip.
**Chamath Palihapitiya** (1:14)
Huge tip.
**Jason Calacanis** (1:15)
Chamath and Jay Cal level two.
**Chamath Palihapitiya** (1:17)
Totally makes sense. Friedberg's like, yeah, I got it. No problem. We had like 19,000 pounds of food, and he goes, is $175 appropriate?
**Jason Calacanis** (1:27)
Literally. Friedberg calculates it.
**Chamath Palihapitiya** (1:29)
So Jason says, Jason says no, and then Friedberg says, hold on. Fine, fine. I'll double it to 350 Now, he was f***ing around. He was joking.
**David Friedberg** (1:37)
I gave the guy 1,000 bucks.
**Chamath Palihapitiya** (1:39)
Gave 1,000 bucks, and I said, actually, I think we should give 3,000, so then we tipped the woman an extra 2K. So we gave her 3K for a 10-person dinner, which I think is appropriate. She was ecstatic. The food was phenomenal. It was great. Go to Shiso if you're in Miami.
**Philippe Laffont** (1:54)
Dave, are you adjusting the tips for the no-tax-on-tips, so you're like making them a little smaller?
**Jason Calacanis** (2:17)
Hey everybody, hey everybody. Welcome back to the number one podcast in the world. We're gonna have an amazing episode today. The besties are riding high. Why are we riding high? Because we went to Miami. Oh my goodness, we had so much fun at F1.
**Chamath Palihapitiya** (2:35)
Thanks to- That was fun. I mean, it was fun.
**Jason Calacanis** (2:37)
I mean, gosh, so many great stories. So much good time. We're laughing the whole time.
We did a little stage show and Tony Robbins came up. We had Nico Rosberg. He's a Formula F1 champion. Our guy Antonio Gracia, who's working on Doge, Valor Capital, front of the pod, and Mayor Francis Suarez joined us. And then at the end of the show, surprise guest, none other than Sergey Brin, who is punching a clock. He's working like 70 hours a week over at Alphabet. And we'll talk about that today a bit. Did you have a favorite speaker? Mr. Sultan of Science, the one and only David Friedberg. Do you have a favorite speaker or a moment?
**David Friedberg** (3:18)
I thought Sergey did a great job. He was very casual, very chill. We had a great conversation. I think we should probably publish that as a standalone. I thought it was really good.
**Jason Calacanis** (3:28)
So drop them like a little midweek drop or something like that?
**David Friedberg** (3:30)
But I will say, Antonio, I gave him a shout out just because I think the work Antonio is doing is so important. I am super impressed and I was really appreciative. Of him taking time to come hang out with us. But obviously he is working with Elon on Doge, but he is also uncovering a lot of stuff in the government. That it is really powerful to see someone actually go in, do the digging and present it the way they are with the transparency he is. And he is not doing it for any angle. There is no money, there is no benefit to him individually. He is just doing it.
