In this bonus episode, Bre talks about something she saw throughout her life, in different forms, that she named “Bobby” in hopes of making it seem a bit less scary. It all started when she was a little kid and saw a pair of glowing red eyes staring at her from the window.

Welcome to the Otherworld Patreon, I'm your host, Jack Wagner. This is a bonus episode. If you want to hear the full thing and all of the other bonus episodes that we're doing this month, you could sign up at patreon.com/otherworld.
In this episode, we spoke to Bre. She grew up in the rural south out in the country, and when she was just a little kid, she started seeing something outside her bedroom window at night. Two glowing red eyes.
That's all she could make out, just the eyes. To make it less scary, she gave it a name. She called this thing Bobby. The thing is Bobby didn't stay outside the window. Bre has had experiences with him at different points throughout her life. Some of them are pretty unsettling, and at least one time, she was not the only person who saw him. This is the story of Bre and this thing Bobby, and how her opinions on it have changed throughout the years. I'll let her tell you about that herself. This is Bre, and you're listening to the Otherworld Patreon.

So my name is Bre. I grew up in kind of the middle nowhere. Southern USA. So not a lot going on. It's... A very...
Religious area. So I grew up in the church, specifically we were... Considered like Southern Baptist, so like demons and angels and stuff like that was pretty ingrained to how I was raised. That being said, it's not something that I super believed in, because I did have faith for a while, but the concept of demons didn't really make sense to me, the way that they were taught and whether or not they were still active. Growing up, it was just my parents and my sibling, my sister, and I was younger, she was older, and my parents had a very complicated marriage, so it wasn't always happy. And so a lot of times, like my sister and I, we kind of kept to ourselves. We were home schooled, so we didn't really have a lot of friends, so like we did read a lot, we played video games, we would go outside and just play in the woods, because I kind of grew up in farmland, so there's not much around anyway, so going outside and playing with sticks was just as exciting as staying inside and playing with boxes. So the first time I had an encounter was about when I was six or seven years old, and I lived in a trailer back then, and so my bed kind of like was right up against a window, so I could very easily like look outside. Outside my window was just wood, so it was a tree of line and a wood area. It was part of my family's property because I kind of grew up across from farmland, so like all of this is in the middle of country and farmland, so like there's fields, but my window specifically looked into the forest. And a lot of the times, like the moonlight would shine through the window and stuff, and like as a kid, I really liked looking outside the window. And there was one time where I looked out this window and I saw a pair of like glowing red eyes. It's really hard to describe because it is such an unusual phenomenon, and I've tried drawing it over the years and I can't ever get it quite right. There was no silhouette to it. Like there was this void around it that was a bit darker than, I guess, the rest of the forest, but I couldn't make out shapes. So all I'm staring at are a pair of eyes, and they're like about the same distance like a normal person's face would be, maybe a little bit further. And it wasn't pupils, so like it wasn't like glowing irises or anything like that. It was the entire shape of the eye was glowing. But it wasn't human either. But it also didn't really match any animals I've ever seen before. And like animal eyes don't reflect that way. So like that was also something that really stuck with me is like what I was looking at wasn't something I've ever seen before. And it didn't blink.
It moved around as if like a head was moving. It was definitely something watching me just kind of in the darkness. And it struck me because it's something I've never seen before, and it was like really scary, and I didn't know what to do about it. So I kind of just stared at the eyes. The eyes stared at me, and then I ignored it to the best that I could, and I just kind of went to bed. But being as like this was like the first time, I ended up seeing these eyes pretty often outside my room over the years. And so to make it less scary for me, I ended up giving this being a nickname, which ended up being Bobby, kind of like in the way that kids would nickname their stuffed animals. I called him like the red-eyed demon, or I would call him Bobby. And it was just kind of the interchangeable title whenever I did try to talk about him. But I also didn't talk about him very often or really ever unless it was like to my sister, who kind of was a captive audience to whatever I had to say.
