Welcome to the Robert Hunt Financial Market Update. It's your host, Robert Hunt, where I look at the week's financial news. It may be a bit confusing, misleading, and take you, of course, out to make it actionable, understandable, and clear. What a week, what a show. Tims are dropping in Dallas, but we never turn the temperature down on this podcast. Always sitting it to you straight, always a little bit of sizzle, a little bit of heat. We've got a good one. We're actually gonna look at, I was blessed, honored. Someone invited me to attend a virtual presentation of something called the Grants 2026 Conference, some financial luminaries. I'll give you some of my learnings from that conference with some heavy hitters. We're then gonna look at some stock market data. It was replete. The x.com platform was chock full of wonderful financial data that'll hopefully help you rethink some presuppositions that aren't helpful, because I know it would help me. And then I'm gonna close with a story. Now this is a, I'm gonna call it almost an 18-year-old story that I've never told on a podcast. To the best of my knowledge, you're gonna want to hang out to the very end of the show. Don't you love when people say that? You're gonna want to hang out to the very end of the show, because I'm gonna tell you this story. It was one of the most compelling stock tip stories I'd ever heard. I'd ever heard. But at the top, we had a couple of grants. This is the Fall 2026 Conference. This week, it was Tuesday, October 13th. It was actually at the Plaza Hotel. That's a big deal. But I got to watch a VIA Webinar. I had some wonderful hosts. And we had a great line up. I got a gentleman named David Rosenberg. I missed him, but apparently he was big on bubbles. Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles, AI bubbles. His title, Not So Tiny Bubbles. I then listened to the bond giant Pimco, Chief Investment Officer, I believe, Daniel Iveson, talk about bonds, seizing the yield advantage. Fuddy duddy bonds. We then brought in some hot shot, one of the top Goldman Sachs guys, three I call hedge fund type guys promoting, not intentionally, but basically giving their strategy what they try to pull off.

Then Todd Combs, and I finished with Tom Combs, and went further, but Top Combs used to be Warren Buffett's right hand guy at Berkshire Hathaway, and now works at JP Morgan, essentially investing their own money. No outside investor, just JP Morgan's money. So I got to kind of look behind the curtain. The Wizard of Oz, I got to appear behind the curtain. These were the guys. This was the content. I found it really interesting, and was grateful to be included. So I know some of my listeners may have been some of my hosts, but I'll say this, I'll say this. What did I learn?

A lot of people worried about a bubble, guys, a lot of bubble talk. And in fact, even the gentleman who was hosting, he kept leading, in a sense, the folks on the podium, hey, we're back to this bubble talk. Do you think it's a bubble? Do you think? I'd say that was in the air. It was in the air. It, what it reminded me was this, and this is an old phrase, but it bears sound smart, bulls make money.

Bears sound smart, bulls make money. It is the case that you sound more intelligent if you can see through what the crowds are doing and show how your view of the world is superior and therefore your capital allocation, your investing decisions are superior. It sounds better. Can you imagine how intelligent someone would sound if they got out there and just say, said, hey, man, I just, I was trying to keep my costs low, investing simple time, horizon long. I don't even think about whether we're in a bubble or not. That doesn't, ultimately, it wouldn't be very helpful to this conference, but it just doesn't do a lot for people. Doesn't sound super intelligent. It may very well, and of course, I believe this strongly, lead to the best results. I even had, they asked, this was hedge fund luminaries, Zachary Kurtz, Atish Nagam, and Chris Rich, I believe those are their names. Hey, what are you trying to pull off? And it was, hey, we're trying to get 10%, 12%, but not really losing your money, or hey, we're trying to get 13, or hey, we're trying to get, I forget, there's one higher than that. But they had these strategies, and they were trying to execute on them, and not have you lose money in the drawdown, but I scratched my head and thought to myself, you know, you could just do an index fund.
