And today, Joey Wright and I are going to talk about our favorite late round sleepers. And Joey, you've got a guy that you want to talk about that I'm really excited to hear about. Tell everyone why they need to stop sleeping on Rashad White.
**Joey Wright** (2:02)
Yeah, I feel like the narrative with Rashad White is, okay, he's just a plug-in, you know, past catching running back or there's a crowded backfield in Washington. I just don't see it that way. I see a player that's improved every season. He's been in the NFL coming into Washington backfield that I don't think has a whole lot of competition for him. I want to kind of talk about his efficiency going back to 2023 And this is a stat you brought up earlier in the offseason. Dave is rushing expected points added had him rank. Wait for it people in 2023 139th in the league. That's not good. Dave, that's a bad thing. Very, very bad 2024, though, improved to 20th. And then last season, he was 9th in the league in rushing EPA. So when you're getting the ball under shod white hands, he's getting you fantasy points now.
Also, and this is kind of an early career thing for him. And this is why I think you might have seen that increase in efficiency with the rushing EPA. He could not break a tackle to save his life. One of the worst broken tackle rates in the NFL in 2023 Each year he's improved. Now he's 20, top 20 in the league and broken tackle rate. So an area that he's really improved that he can get through walls for the first time. Before it was like he's running through brick walls every single time. Now he's just hitting those defenders and getting right through them.
So that's what we like to see. But the competition there, we've got Jackari, Bill Krosky Merritt. See, that's the cheap get out of it quick, Dave, isn't it? Yeah, Bill Krosky Merritt, Jackari Krosky Merritt. I can say it. I just was being too loud.
A competent between the tackles runner, but someone that just doesn't really have any presence in the passing game. They brought in K-Tron Allen through the draft. And that is the main competition, I think, for Bill Krosky Merritt. You're going to see he is a little bit of a competent in the passing game, but we did see Nick Singleton taking most of that work at Penn State. So I'm not really concerned that much with Rashad White. So I do think he does have a pretty good lock on that passing game work. So this kind of all boils down for me to a player that shows improvement every season that he's been in the league, getting an opportunity few seem to see with him. And you're not needing to draft Rashad White as your RB one. And that may be one of the best things about him. If you've reached early in your draft at a quarterback or a tight end, and you need some running back step that you can kind of depend on, I think Rashad White is a fantastic fit for fantasy teams this year.
