Some of the layer one alt coins people are holding today could become economically irrelevant. They still have the token, they might still produce blocks, but the users, the liquidity and the opportunity will have moved somewhere else entirely. Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin just described an AI feature that adds another reason that this could happen. Listen to this.

Possibly in two years, the application will also be written by a bot. Possibly in two years, there will be no applications. There will just be bots making on-chain offers, and then your bots interpreting everyone's offers and telling you what they mean and trying to figure out for you which offers actually make sense for you to accept.

That was a threat. AI can build the app. It can find the trade, but it cannot manufacture deep liquidity and years of trust. We've argued this market eventually concentrates around three to five major smart contract networks. While Vitalik just described could accelerate that process, and it makes choosing the right network more important than ever. So which networks have what it takes to survive? Because when software becomes easy to copy, the value moves to what is hard to copy. Anyone can clone an interface. Anybody can prompt an agent and spin up a workflow, but you cannot prompt deep liquidity into existence. You cannot copy years of trust, integrations and security, or develop a mindshare. And users who already know where the money is, they're going to flow to those locations.

And where is settlement credible? This is a very basic, real world concept that I don't feel like a lot of people are considering right now. You have to think about where does it have the best chance of getting the transaction done without a hidden risk or fragmented capital and running into routes that nobody trusts.

That is the real layer one battle going on beneath our feet. And we have talked about this thesis before. The market may settle 3 to 5 dominant smart contract networks because the liquidity and the network effects begin to compound.

Not every single chain shuts down. That is not what economic irrelevance really means. A chain can keep producing blocks, keep the community basically happy, and keep the token. But if it cannot attract durable activity and capital and a differentiated reason why you should settle there, it becomes very much less important to the overall economic system of crypto. And that pressure gets stronger when agents can route against other chains. Then it is an important counterpoint. Concentration is not inevitable. It's better routing. Bridges and tents and abstracted wallets can let an agent use many different chains without ever having to care which one is underneath it. A network has to earn the value it captures. You cannot just assume that the agent economy is going to pay its way.

These words should ring as a stark warning and a reminder that when you hear the easy answer, every chain wins because every chain can plug into the aggregator. That's simply not enough. An aggregator still needs reliable venues, that deep capital liquidity, credible execution, and parties willing to quote prices.

Interoperability can make the user experience smoother, but it does not magically turn thin liquidity into deep pools and make a generic execution environment impossible to replace.

The rails underneath all of these different projects here shown on the screen still matter, especially when the transactions are large, urgent, or carrying real counterparty risk. So on this massive amount of crypto projects to look at, what are we watching? Ethereum is the clearest settlement and security case in this conversation. ETH has deep liquidity, a huge ecosystem, and a security model built around economically meaningful stake. In a world of machine-to-machine value transfer, those are not old world advantages. They are a foundation. The question whether every transaction lands on Ethereum directly shouldn't really be on your mind. The question is whether Ethereum remains a trusted center of capital and a final settlement layer. As things sit right now, it has the strongest case. Now, Solana is on this watchlist for a different reason. It's fast, inexpensive execution and existing activity. And if agents can create a flood of small, very frequent and time-sensitive actions, execution quality will matter. Solana is built around that kind of throughput and fee experience, but do not confuse raw transaction counts with an actual durable demand, because the test is always boiled down to real users, real applications, and real liquidity to keep showing up when incentives fade.

Also on my mind, within this parabolic possibility is Nier protocol. Nier is interesting because the agent world may not look like users clicking through apps at all. It may look like intents. Tell an agent what outcome you want, let the solvers compute to fulfill it, and let the settlement result come out the other end. Nier intents and chain signature architecture fit that coordination story. That doesn't mean that every cross-chain action creates value for Nier token. It means that Nier has a thesis worth testing that solver liquidity, developer adoption, and users continue to compound. And in a very timely example that came out early this morning, we had Nier's co-founder come out with a stark reminder of this, and told the block that users no longer need centralized exchanges for a lot of cryptoactivity. Says, nier.com has more fiat features coming, and plans to actually add tokenized stocks for more markets. Those actions are planned and not all live yet, but that is the direction of more financial activity being accessed on chain with much less friction. Now, if I didn't already have enough reasons to be watching Nier, this is just strengthen the case for watching this project as coordination layers, not just another fast blockchain project. Another layer one within my mind in this conversation is Avalanche. It's a possible fourth candidate here, especially where institutions or vertical applications need policy controls, permission participation, or purpose-build execution environments, and that capability is real. The question is whether those deployments create sustained demand and value for the AVAX token and not just impressive press releases. And the other slots should stay open. Nobody gets a seat at this table because they have a fast chain and a marketing budget. It doesn't work anymore. Here are the four tests. Deep liquidity in a sticky liquidity environment, credible security and resilience, recurring economic activity that is not just emissions or bot noise, and a differentiated primitive that computers cannot reproduce easily.
