What is going on, SDR Nation? This is your host and brother from another mother, Emanuele Pani.
Guys, this is episode 300 I am in Sardinia at my grandparents' house. If you watch this on YouTube, you'll recognize my background. And what a ride.
I had no idea. I don't think Mike had any idea either. Maybe he did. I had no idea when we started this show, now six years ago almost, what saying yes was going to mean. I had no idea. Yeah, I just had no idea. And I am so grateful for what this journey has been. I am so grateful for the community we've built. I am so grateful for all of the things. And this is going to be my last show. And so what I thought about was that I just want to share with you guys, my reflections, my learnings, my realizations over the last couple of years. And I've shared a lot with you guys. So you kind of know, you might have some hints. That's what I'm going to talk about. But as you guys well know, we always end the show asking our guests, what is your number one secret to success with short term rentals? And so I thought I would answer that for myself today. And I would answer it in a slightly different way. And I'm going to share with you guys what have been the five lessons that have most changed my life, the way that I lived, the way that I operate, and the five lessons that have resulted with me being, feeling the best I've ever felt.
And so let's get into it. Number one, identity is everything. And there was that part of me at the beginning that was always seeking for more information, more things, more courses, more conferences, more books, more podcasts, thinking that those things, those external things were going to make me feel different. And what I wasn't understanding, that I was continuously operating from the same identity. And the beautiful thing about this life, the beautiful thing about going after ambitious things, ambitious goals, it's not what you get, but it's who you, it's who you become. And so as you evolve in your journey as an SDR owner, operator, maybe soon you're going to be looking at boutique hotels, maybe soon you're going to be growing your team and really stepping into that CEO role. Most of your success is going to be determined by whatever or not your identity is in alignment with that future version of you. And so does your identity match your goals? Does your future identity is it here now? Or do you think you're going to become, feel something once you get there? Because my friends, if that is the, if that is what you think, my awareness, my truth is that you don't get what you think you are, you get what you are. Like you get that part of you that you embody. And so lesson one, the moment that I fully stepped into my identity, my new identities, when life started responding to it, just like magic. Lesson two, the standards, not goals, create your futures, or your future, I should say. Because a goal inspires you, or has the potential to. What a standard does, it helps you make decisions. And so this ties into what are your standards for your relationships with yourself and other. What are your standards in your business? What are your standards with your health? What are your standards with your team? And understand that your standards are your legacy, and are going to be the thing that people are going to remember about you. And understanding that you don't get what you want, you get what you're willing to tolerate. And so if there is something in your life that right now is not working out for you, rather than changing goals, rather than setting a bigger goal, I will ask you, I will implore you to look at your standards. And understand that as long as you leave your standards where they are, even if maybe you accomplish their goal momentarily, you're going to slide back to your standards. Lesson 3
The story you tell becomes the life you live. As you guys know because I've talked about this in the past, we all want breakthroughs, and we want breakthroughs through systems and strategies. But the reality of a breakthrough is the breakthrough only comes when you change your story, and when you change the spirit that goes into your story. And so if your story keeps being, oh, this is hard for me, Beb's life is going to continue to be hard for you. And so if you are telling a story of lack and scarcity and hardship and just not being enough, please understand that that's what you're going to keep getting. Because the words that you speak to you about you right now, the words that you speak about your story right now, is what's in your life right now. And so if right now, because you are sick, because you are broke, because you are going through some struggles, you continuously say that that's what you are, guess what I can promise you that tomorrow is going to be? You're just going to be just as sick, just as broke. And so if you want your tomorrow to change, it starts by telling a different story about you from today. Number four, lesson four, this is particularly true for me right now, growth feels like loss.
