Spencer Downey (0:29)

Well, hello, and welcome to The Starting Zone, the podcast about World of Warcraft and the people who play it. Today is October 2nd, 2026, and my name is Spencer Downey. Thank you so much for listening and subscribing to the podcast. I am joined, as always, by my co-host, Jason Lucas.

Jason, how are you doing on this fine Friday?

Jason Lucas (0:44)

Spencer, hello, I'm doing well. We got a big news week or, well, it's stuff you would expect, I guess.

What I'm alluding to is we got a patch release date since we spoke last, so that's great. And I think it's actually a little bit later than we thought it would be, which is kind of nice, because I don't know about everybody else, but I'm ready for a patch at this point for the first time in a while, where I felt like before they were a little too fast. Maybe we had a little bit of a gap because of BlizzCon or whatever, but having an extra couple of weeks feels pretty nice. So I mean, I've been doing all my things in retail and trying to avoid the call of Forever Beta. That's kind of where I'm at because I want to play it, but the beta window is so short. And so I've been trying to get some time in on some other games. And also, my life is crazy busy right now. So just trying to do what I can, try to distribute a little bit. That's kind of where I'm at. But yeah, I mean, I'm really... We got some stuff to dig into this week that I'm really excited to talk about. And I'm still enjoying Curse of Ulutec quite a bit. I'm having a good time with this patch, even though I've started to check some of the stuff off my list. Like I'm definitely ramping down on the outdoor stuff and whatever. It's kind of way more into a weekly rhythm where it's like, well, I guess I'll do some of this. I'll fill this bar because it's a lot of bang for my buck. And then, you know, that's about all I'm going to do. You know, kind of downshifted into that mode, but I'm also not really putting time into alts right now.

Again, because I think, you know, with Forever Launch looming in just a few weeks now, I want to make sure, like, I have time to check out the new Diablo season or, you know, play some other stuff. I really got to get into Forsaken Kingdom. I want to play through that story before Forever comes out. Right. So that's my list to get it started up this weekend. And like I said, I'm trying to distribute a little bit more.

Spencer Downey (2:44)

Yeah, I can understand that. There's not just a lot of stuff around WoW happening. There's a lot of other games that are doing a lot of big things over the next couple of months. And with Forever creeping up in November, that is going to occupy a lot of people's time. I've heard more than a few of my streamer friends that are all pumped up and ready to do streamathons and big rushes and pushes on Forever. So we'll see what all that looks like as we get closer and closer to it. A lot of the news that came out this week was blog posts about Forever, which is something, as you said, we predicted would happen. So we'll get into that at some point over the next couple of weeks before Forever comes out and sort of fit it in where it makes sense to talk about some of the things that's going on with that. But I left off last week's show mentioning the World of Warcraft Wrath Remix that is going to be coming up in summer of 2027

And this is our last thing from BlizzCon that we have not talked about. So I just wanted to be sure we fit that in. And we'll do it before we find out what Jason did last week in World of Warcraft. We'll fit it in now.

And we'll dive into that and sort of continue it along.

Jason Lucas (3:49)

This is the last week on the Starting Zone segment of the show.

Spencer Downey (3:53)

Last time on TSZ. Yeah, so the accelerated leveling process is coming back. You're going to create a brand new character, level one. And you're going to push up through Northrend with speed leveling, a new curve for that. There's going to be overpowered abilities, where you're going to be able to pick up different game breaking power ups and slam through Icecrown Citadel and Ulduar and those old raids that exist. There's going to be exclusive rewards. There'll be unique pets and mounts and transmog sets and stuff, like everything you expect from a remix.
