October 9, 2026

This week's anagram: Floppy Shit Bag. Good luck with that. This episode is a public service for anyone whose partner is slowly morphing into an unreasonable old person.

Speakers Vic Dunn, Christine Thom

Vic Dunn (0:07)

Good morning, everybody, it's episode 69, and today's word is floppy shitbag.

SPEAKER_2 (0:13)

Floppy shitbag.

Vic Dunn (0:15)

Make a word. You're welcome.

Good morning, morning, morning.

Christine Thom (0:23)

I'm just visualizing a floppy shitbag. That's like a dog bag in it.

SPEAKER_4 (0:27)

Where's my dog?

Christine Thom (0:28)

Yeah.

SPEAKER_2 (0:28)

Here's a floppy shitbag.

Vic Dunn (0:31)

You're still jumping up for the poo bags.

SPEAKER_4 (0:33)

It's driving me mad.

Vic Dunn (0:35)

I don't know what it is. It's just a game.

SPEAKER_5 (0:37)

Just like crinkly bags.

Vic Dunn (0:38)

Yeah, I'm going to have to desensitize training.

Christine Thom (0:42)

Yeah, to the bags being horrible.

Vic Dunn (0:42)

To the bags being boring.

Christine Thom (0:44)

Yeah.

Vic Dunn (0:45)

The thing is, you know, how can they get any worse or boring? They're full of shit. Anyone else would be put off.

Christine Thom (0:51)

You know what? I think we've been four seconds in, and we're talking shit again. It doesn't take long, does it?

Vic Dunn (0:58)

Well, it's because we started with a floppy shitbag.

A beautiful morning out there today. Blue skies.

Christine Thom (1:05)

It's really nice. It's that autumnal summer vibe. It's turned, doesn't it?

Vic Dunn (1:12)

It's not quite sweater weather, though, for me. I did wear a coat on a dog walk this morning, but it's not sweater weather. In the evenings, it's sweater weather.

Christine Thom (1:21)

Oh, in the evenings, it's blanket and TV weather, isn't it?

SPEAKER_2 (1:24)

We lit a fire last night.

Christine Thom (1:26)

Oh, it was so, so, so nice. Well, we went out to see Connor Burns at the Glee Club in Leeds.

Vic Dunn (1:33)

Oh, was hubby well enough? Yeah.

Yeah. Was it good?

Christine Thom (1:39)

He was piled up on paracetamol in the day nurse. It's fine.

Vic Dunn (1:43)

I think he came.

SPEAKER_4 (1:43)

Oh, so nice.

Vic Dunn (1:44)

Hey.

SPEAKER_4 (1:45)

Hey.

Vic Dunn (1:47)

Wow.

Christine Thom (1:48)

And he came straight from work, and then I got into town, and then he did that thing where my husband at the minute, and I'm being very careful how I approach it, and I want to grab him and pull him back, because he's going into that old panic mode now and again. A bit like, you know, when you go out somewhere, and they're like, oh, I wonder if I could be able to park.

Vic Dunn (2:08)

Oh, no, no, it's not, is it? Stop.

SPEAKER_5 (2:10)

Yeah.

Christine Thom (2:10)

No, don't do that. Oh, I've got, so we got into the Trinity last night, and the kid used to grab something quickly to eat, because we only had like an hour.

SPEAKER_5 (2:17)

Yeah.

Christine Thom (2:18)

Went there, and then he was on his phone. I went, are you all right? And yeah, I'm just looking on the glee club to see if I can take me bag in. Just like that.

SPEAKER_4 (2:25)

You'll be fine.

Christine Thom (2:26)

It's like, yeah, but it says no big bags. Like, it's just, it's not that big. And I was like, what else are you gonna do?

SPEAKER_4 (2:31)

Yeah.

Christine Thom (2:32)

Just get there, and we'll sort it out at the time, but no, and I'm like that, trying to drag him back from that old, diverse universe of just... Freckle. Yes, don't go to that gym of the...

SPEAKER_4 (2:42)

Don't go down that line.

Christine Thom (2:45)

So I'll pull it, yeah, pull it in back from that. Now and again, I'll go, don't ask if we can part. We'll find out when we get there.

SPEAKER_4 (2:55)

Yeah.

Christine Thom (2:56)

Oh.

Vic Dunn (2:58)

Is he normally a planner?

Christine Thom (3:00)

Not at all.

Vic Dunn (3:01)

Oh, okay.

Christine Thom (3:02)

No.

Vic Dunn (3:03)

Because we're not planners.

Christine Thom (3:04)

I'm a planner.

Vic Dunn (3:06)

I know you're a planner. But I'm not a planner, but it doesn't make me fret about stuff like that. I just go, oh, I'll be all right.

SPEAKER_5 (3:12)

You never used to?

No. Oh, no, no.

Christine Thom (3:15)

This is why I'm worried.

SPEAKER_4 (3:15)

It's a turning thing.

Christine Thom (3:17)

Oh, how old is he? 56

Vic Dunn (3:20)

We're the same age as me, isn't he?

Christine Thom (3:21)

We're just very carefully, just making sure.

So now and again, if he does say something that's very, and I'll go, oh, I'm GRWM, and slap him across the head. So just totally turn around.

Vic Dunn (3:31)

He's started twitching curtains, and complaining about people's parking on the road.
