Hello, good morning, and welcome to Rein it In, episode 68
Vic Dunn (0:16)
And this episode's words are Pisters of fart.
Christine Thom (0:24)
Morning, morning, morning.
Vic Dunn (0:27)
We've had a beer of to do this morning.
Christine Thom (0:28)
We were meant to start about an hour ago, but suddenly got a phone call from my husband going, Vic, bring the first aid kit to the bus stop. We are indoors, and we rush around in the car, first aid kit. You're not going to believe it.
Vic Dunn (0:42)
Two nuns and my husband and an old lady flat on the floor.
Christine Thom (0:47)
And a learner driver or a new P driver. Oh, is that what it was?
Vic Dunn (0:52)
Nothing to do with the accident.
Christine Thom (0:53)
Old lady taking a tumble running for the bus. My husband wasn't in time to catch her. So the poor old dear had really whopped herself, aren't you?
Vic Dunn (1:01)
The two nuns were American.
Christine Thom (1:03)
One was a nurse and the other helper was a nurse as well.
Vic Dunn (1:06)
So we're all surrounded by medics.
Christine Thom (1:08)
Then a guy from across the road brought a cup of tea and a blanket going, oh, that's our sick blankets and all sorts on it, but it keeps me warm when I'm poorly. It was the most lovely little community moment. But like what you were saying on the way back, people will help people.
Vic Dunn (1:24)
It was great.
Christine Thom (1:24)
They will help people. But from the distance, because I was standing over, there was quite a lot of people. So when I parked the car up and you ran off with the first aid kit and a sanitary towel, I always take a sanitary towel with you to a first aid moment.
Christine Thom (1:35)
Take a sanitary towel, take a sanitary towel, to stop the bleeding.
Vic Dunn (1:38)
So the first thing I woke up to were two nuns and a sanitary towel going, what do you need this?
Christine Thom (1:43)
And the nurse went, I think we'll wait till we get to in the car.
Vic Dunn (1:46)
I was like, yeah, fair enough.
Christine Thom (1:47)
But it was a case of, I'm standing on the opposite side of the road, and then there's obviously the car and the two nuns. And I was just like trying to figure out what happens. And all I could see was a new driver, a bloke with a brew, two nuns and your husband. I was like, it's like a fucking joke.
Vic Dunn (2:03)
It was only two nuns. It's not often you stand there and the two nuns are going, your husband's amazing, he's so lovely.
Christine Thom (2:11)
Oh, he's such a dear. He's an angel sent from above.
Christine Thom (2:14)
Yeah.
Christine Thom (2:16)
I'm like, you all right?
Vic Dunn (2:18)
All right.
Christine Thom (2:18)
He's got to get on the bus with that ed.
Christine Thom (2:21)
Like that all day, a bit like that.
Vic Dunn (2:23)
But weirdly, he's on his way to do theatre with old people this morning.
Christine Thom (2:26)
Oh, OK.
Christine Thom (2:27)
So they were like, oh, he's gifted in that area.
Christine Thom (2:31)
Well, he started off early. He started getting annoyed with the nun because she's flirting with the husband.
Christine Thom (2:36)
I was expecting that on a Friday morning.
Christine Thom (2:39)
They were lovely, actually, very sweet. They are nuns. They are, now nuns are lovely and sweet.
Vic Dunn (2:44)
Really cool. Yeah, they are.
Christine Thom (2:46)
Talking pissed as a fart, it was something that came up to the day, and I thought, why do we say pissed as a fart? Have you looked it up? Yeah, of course I have. But it's the case of, does it make any sense, does it? How would a fart be pissed? Because it used to be pissed as a newt.
And then it's derived and it's evolved and things have changed, because farts are unpredictable, they're uncontrollable and crucially a bit ridiculous.
Vic Dunn (3:13)
Yeah.
Christine Thom (3:14)
So pissed as a fart.
Vic Dunn (3:16)
Oh, okay.
Christine Thom (3:17)
So that's the connection there. So pissed as a newt, evolved, pissed as a fart.
Vic Dunn (3:22)
I don't really say it, do you?
Christine Thom (3:24)
Piss as a fart.
Vic Dunn (3:24)
No.
Christine Thom (3:25)
All the time. Piss as a fart. Yeah, well, the person that was trying to talk to me over the weekend was pissed as a fart. Actually, I had been away with the Girls of the Weekend and I hardly drank over the weekend and I was actually better than I thought because when you go away with the Girls of the Weekend, literally, it's like we've all opened a corner shop.
