Hi, guys, it's Tony Robbins. You're listening to Habits & Hustle.

Jen Cohen (0:04)

Crush it.

Today, I'm talking to Melissa Haloossim. She's the founder of Skin Thesis, and the woman, some of the biggest names in Hollywood, trusts with their skin, including Hailey Bieber, Kim Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner. And in this episode, we basically break down skincare without the BS. There are so many lasers, devices, treatments, rejectables, and anti-aging promises more than ever before. But what actually works? What's overhyped? And what could actually make your skin worse? Melissa breaks down the treatments worth your money, the mistakes people are making, and what really moves the needle when it comes to aging well. And of course, how to build a smarter approach to your skin. So if you're confused, like I am, about all the noise in beauty and skincare, this episode will clear a lot of that up. So stay tuned, and let's dive in.

Alright, you guys, welcome to another episode of Habits and Hustle. I love the topic we're talking about today because it is about skin, health, beauty, aging, all the things. And we have someone who is top of their craft today. We have Melissa Haloossim. Yes. Okay, she's a nurse practitioner and the founder of Skin Thesis, and the most sought-after. I mean, she's going to say one of the most sought-after people in Hollywood for getting your skin in tip-top shape. And so this is a big treat to have her today. So thank you for being here.

Melissa Haloossim (1:44)

I'm so glad to be here. Thank you for having me.

Jen Cohen (1:45)

Oh gosh, it's a pleasure. I've got so many questions because I think we're all confused, right? Because social media has made it so difficult to know what is good, what is not good, what's good for aging, for anti-aging, for skin tightening. I have a million questions for you.

Melissa Haloossim (2:06)

It can get complicated. So I've been in the industry for 23 years and I watched it grown. And I've seen it evolve for the good and the bad.

And I think I've evolved with it. And I think being a practitioner and a provider, you have to and you have to kind of, you're going with the flow, you're figuring things out, but all along you're learning. And so I learned something new every day and I'm very aware of it. So as I've evolved, I have seen kind of like where my recommendations have changed as well.

And how I treat each patient differently. I'm not going to recommend something to you the same as your girlfriend.

Jen Cohen (2:54)

Oh, you don't, because it's all very customized.

Melissa Haloossim (2:56)

It is. And I think the consultation is the best time where my mind starts working and figuring out, okay, where am I going to go with this for that patient?

Jen Cohen (3:07)

Right. So what was trendy even 10 years ago that you would not even think of doing today?

Melissa Haloossim (3:14)

I don't know if there was something specific, but there's always trends on machines.

Jen Cohen (3:19)

Yes.

Melissa Haloossim (3:19)

And there's trends on treatments. Like devices, like lasers. Or they'll call it like the vampire facial, or they'll call certain devices I would not touch. Like what?

Jen Cohen (3:29)

Tell us.

Melissa Haloossim (3:30)

I actually tried. And this isn't like, you know, I don't want to harm the industry of like, you know, the device industry. But I tried Othera back in the day.

And I tried it when it first came out and I was completely turned off. And I said, okay, I waited and waited. And then I tried it again. And I was like, no, this is not the right device. When I recently went to Korea, it is still huge in Korea. And I realized that their skin type is completely different than ours. They've got thicker skin, they can handle it, they can tolerate it. It's a stronger device, it can go pretty deep. But if I did it now, at my age, it actually would harm me because it would destroy fat and I'm trying to keep fat in my face.

Jen Cohen (4:15)

Yes, so because all this about like, I remember even a few years ago, the Morpheus 8 was like the most popular thing on the planet. And then like the pendulum swung a little and they're like, well, no, actually, because if you go too deep, it basically burns your fat off your, like not burns, but it basically...

Melissa Haloossim (4:35)

It can go too deep for some people. So here's the harsh reality of the industry. When the pendulum is here and it's going great, you're on top of your game. And if it goes the other way, it destroys them. And I actually still have a Morpheus. I still use the Morpheus, but there's a certain skin type I use it on. I love it for body as well.
