Tony Topper (0:39)
Tony here.
Chris Miller (0:41)
Hey, this is Chris.
Don (0:42)
Hello, hello, this is Don.
Steve (0:44)
And this is Steve. And I have the age-old question, what do you call a magic dog?
All right. And the answer is a labra-cadabra-dor.
Chris Miller (0:56)
Oh, my God. Yeah.
Jamie Keagy (1:00)
That's how we celebrate our 15th anniversary right there, with one of Steve's better jokes.
Don (1:06)
Is it the 15th anniversary?
Jamie Keagy (1:08)
As a matter of fact, actually, our 15th anniversary was back at the beginning of this month. So our first episode released on September 5th of 2011 This is essentially our 15th anniversary month. The Secret Cabal Gaming Podcast has been going for 15 years.
Tony Topper (1:28)
That's a long time.
Tony Topper (1:29)
We're half as old as Pokemon.
Jamie Keagy (1:31)
That's right.
Chris Miller (1:32)
There you go, T. I tell you, every year, I get a post on my Facebook feed that is the picture of us at Purdue celebrating opening the show.
Jamie Keagy (1:44)
That's right. I remember that it was, Steve wasn't even part of the show back then because for the first year, he couldn't do it and then joined us in year two.
Don (1:53)
But yeah, I didn't even know you guys back then. That's right.
Chris Miller (1:57)
So really, it's me, Jamie and Tony's 15 year anniversary. You guys got to put some years in. That's right. Next year, we'll celebrate Steve.
Don (2:04)
I'm happy to be the youngest one for once.
Jamie Keagy (2:08)
Well, Don, you are a very, very young person because you're still going to these heavy metal concerts and head banging.
Tony Topper (2:15)
I'm killing it.
Don (2:17)
So last Wednesday, what Jamie referred to as last Wednesday, I went and saw Castle Rat. Now, I know a lot of the folks in the metal band forum on the discord like Castle Rat.
I didn't know much about Castle Rat. Our buddy Mike, he said, I got a couple of extra tickets if you want to go. This was a couple of months ago. And I was like, sure, sure, sure. So my buddy Lee and I went and we checked out Castle Rat. Now, there were three bands there. Castle Rat was a headliner. And for those who don't know Castle Rat, you got to Google this, got to look at it, because it's basically five members of a band that, well, actually four members of the band proper. And they actually, they all are like D&D characters, right? You have the Rat Queen and she's the lead singer. You've got the plague doctor who's the bassist. The Count is a vampire and he's the guitarist and the Druid is the drummer. Anyway, it's like a cool mix of Black Sabbath and D&D going on. It's like a show and a metal show.
Chris Miller (3:08)
It's funny because I was watching it and I was like, this is what people back in the 80s during the Satanic Panic thought D&D sessions were like. Exactly. It's insane looking.
Jamie Keagy (3:19)
What it looks like to me, what this band looks like to me is those low budget 80s fantasy movies like Deathstalker or Beastmaster.
Don (3:28)
That's right.
Another funny thing is there is two opening acts and one was an act called Wraith Night.
This dude came out, I still don't know what it looks like because he's wearing his hood. Everything is shrouded on the stage and obviously it's him playing piano music. But it sounds like if you think of the theme of video games like Castlevania and stuff like that, he's playing that stuff live, right? But the lights were so low and he was hooded that this dude walks out and he starts playing a song. Everybody's like, okay, and we're waiting and he just keeps playing the song. And then he finishes the song, takes about six or seven minutes. He goes, what's up Baltimore? That's the only words he said the whole time. Otherwise, it just felt like video game music kind of going for 30 minutes. It was kind of cool.
Steve (4:09)
So Don, a very important question for you, Don. So as most people know, you don't have any hair.
Don (4:15)
That's right.
Steve (4:15)
You know, I myself don't have a lot of hair, but you're like completely hairless. Do you wear a wig when you go to Headbang?
