Ep491 Concert Crimes

Wine & Crime

October 8, 2026

This week, the gals tell some stories about music shows seared into our cultural conscience. Topics include Mozart's poopy predilection, two very ticked off townships, and some deadly soundproofing. Get your hands on some Candy Bubatz, boycott Max's milk, and tune in for Concert Crimes.

Wine & Crime contains graphic and explicit content which may not be suitable for some listeners. Listener discretion is advised.

Lucy Fitzgerald (0:23)

You are listening to Wine & Crime, the podcast where two friends chug wine, chat true crime, and unleash their worst Mussolini accents. Yeah.

Amanda Jacobson (0:33)

Mm-hmm.

Lucy Fitzgerald (0:35)

Well, today, welcome. We have a very special fan pick.

Amanda Jacobson (0:39)

Yes.

Lucy Fitzgerald (0:40)

This was chosen by Emily Bolton. Emily, you've chosen the very broad topic of Concert Crimes.

Yo.

Amanda Jacobson (0:51)

And then, I love this. Concert Crimes, but without it, like, at least that I saw, a specific fan pick case.

Lucy Fitzgerald (1:00)

Well, they chose this back in the spring, and their intention was, oh, with the summer just around the corner, everyone's going to concerts.

Amanda Jacobson (1:09)

Which makes sense, and I love it. But then, I'm like, okay, there's actually a lot of different crimes and, like, crazy shit that goes down at concerts. And I, like, had such a hard time choosing one and then ended up on this, like, holistical article of, like, great top 10, like, American concert disasters or some shit.

Lucy Fitzgerald (1:35)

Oh, God.

Amanda Jacobson (1:35)

And I was like, oh, okay, I'll probably get some inspiration. Oh, my God.

Because I didn't want to cover the Vegas, the Mandalay Bay Route 91 concert.

Lucy Fitzgerald (1:48)

You were there. You don't need to talk about that.

Amanda Jacobson (1:50)

I mean, I wasn't at the concert, but I, yeah, I didn't want to do...

Lucy Fitzgerald (1:54)

You did run for your life a little bit.

Amanda Jacobson (1:57)

Yeah, we did. It was a crazy night.

I didn't want to cover that. And then I had covered another one that was taking up like most of the first pages of Google already when we did a show in Austin. We did like a music festival mishaps episode.

Lucy Fitzgerald (2:13)

Yeah.

Amanda Jacobson (2:14)

So that case kept coming up, and I was like, I've already covered this. But what I found, it's a new fear unlocked. I will be losing sleep. Guaranteed.

Lucy Fitzgerald (2:25)

Okay.

Amanda Jacobson (2:26)

Well, I have to lose sleep. We all have to lose sleep together.

Lucy Fitzgerald (2:29)

That's fair.

Amanda Jacobson (2:30)

And be awake together in the middle of the night.

Lucy Fitzgerald (2:33)

Solidarity in the middle of the night.

Amanda Jacobson (2:36)

Yup.

Lucy Fitzgerald (2:37)

We're having a sleepover next week.

Amanda Jacobson (2:39)

I'm so excited.

Lucy Fitzgerald (2:40)

Yeah. Okay.

Amanda Jacobson (2:42)

I love a hotel sleepover.

Lucy Fitzgerald (2:44)

Yeah. No one has to clean up. With separate rooms. Yes. And you can just eat fun snacks.

Amanda Jacobson (2:49)

You sure can.

Lucy Fitzgerald (2:50)

There are no rules in a hotel.

Amanda Jacobson (2:52)

None.

Lucy Fitzgerald (2:54)

Except the hotel rules.

Amanda Jacobson (2:55)

Except all the rules that the hotel has. Yes, indeed.

Lucy Fitzgerald (3:01)

Okay. Well, let's get started with Concert Crimes. Amanda, what's our pairing for Concert Crimes?

Amanda Jacobson (3:10)

Our Wine Crime pairing today is a Puff Puff pairing because Emily Bolton requested, quote, weed.

Lucy Fitzgerald (3:17)

Perfect. That's why I didn't specify what kind of pairing.

Amanda Jacobson (3:21)

It's Concert Crimes, baby. People love a little tokey toke at a concert.

Lucy Fitzgerald (3:25)

Pass it.

Amanda Jacobson (3:26)

Pass it. And I love getting any opportunity to talk about some fun strains, and I thought I would recommend one that is perfect for Halloween season because this episode is coming out early on Halloween. It is early October. It is just the turn of the season as we record this, as the crow flies.

And I myself have been partaking of this because we've had a recent harvest, a bountiful harvest, quite a good harvest season indeed. And so I have been enjoying this strain, and it is a newer strain called Candy Bubatz, and that's B-U-B-A-T-Z, all one word. And if you want to grow this yourself, at least for now, I think some laws are changing in terms of how we are able to access seeds and seed sales. But we, and if you follow me on social media, you've actually seen a little commercial that my husband made in collaboration with these folks. Dutch Passion, they are an amazing cannabis seed company. They're based out of Amsterdam. And we've had the pleasure of working with them and getting some seeds from them over the past few years since growing became legal in Minnesota. And a recent grow we had that was really fun was Candy Bubatz. This is like a newer strain. And I just wanted to share a little bit of the info that Dutch Passion gives about this strain. And one resource that I use a lot, and I've mentioned before, is leafly.com, L-E-A-F-L-Y. But this strain is actually so new that it's not really on Leafly yet. So going directly to kind of your trusted, your preferred seed bank or seed shop is a great way to get good information on the strain that you're trying to check out and exploring. So Dutch Passion, while they are predominantly like a seed resource, they obviously, because they're directly creating these seeds and they're working with the genetics, and they have all the information that you need for like where these strains came from, who their parentage is. And I'm not going to go into every single detail, but there really is a whole cool world. Like if you're into wine and you're into those kinds of details, these details are readily available for cannabis as well. So I think it's a fun alternative for people who might not be drinking as much, who might be on that quote unquote California sober kick. Like there's still so many cool nuances and differences across strains of cannabis, just like there are in terms of wine varietals. So why not check them out a little bit? This one, Candy Bubatz does pack a punch, okay? The THC is listed in the quote unquote extreme category.
