Welcome to another episode of the Working Perspectives Podcast, presents Beat the Bros.
Matt Lavelle (0:09)
Justin, don't be a cunt. On the show today, we got some great stuff for you. First, we're going to be giving you the top 10 fan favorite Philadelphia athletes of all time. Very good. Then we'll have 20 questions to guess an athlete, and then I'll be bringing the news to you. One of them hits a little close to home. Fun stuff. All right. But before we do that, we got to get to everyone's favorite segment. So, I'm Matt Lavelle. He's Bern Pacasey. He's Liam Reese, and that cunts Justin Richardson. Play the theme song.
Justin, here we go.
Talk to me, daddy. What do we got for? We got fresh cakes. OK, hot takes and fresh cakes. Is that what we're calling it?
Justin Richardson (1:51)
Sure.
Matt Lavelle (1:52)
Justin, I think we go with just fresh cakes.
Justin Richardson (1:55)
Fresh cakes.
Matt Lavelle (1:56)
All right.
SPEAKER_5 (1:57)
Fresh cakes.
Justin Richardson (1:58)
Anyway, all right. I'm going to do the yaoom.
Matt Lavelle (2:02)
OK, no one's asking you to do yaoom. No one said Justin do yaoom. All right.
Justin Richardson (2:06)
I'm going to give you three topics. You told me what you want to talk about.
Do you want to talk about bad pizza? Do you want to talk about poop? Or do you want to talk about Dex?
Matt Lavelle (2:19)
The bad pizza. I'm all right with bad pizza.
Justin Richardson (2:22)
Never.
Matt Lavelle (2:23)
Me too. I'm not. And you know, I don't like that word.
Bern (2:26)
But let's go. Let's go. That pizza. Sure.
Justin Richardson (2:29)
I was talking about pizza. Or talk French boat public school pizza.
Liam Reese (2:35)
Oh, man.
Bern (2:36)
Terrible.
Justin Richardson (2:37)
Oh, crispy edges, doughy middle. Very nice. And then there's also a special piece of bad pizza where like sometimes it's Sunday night. You've already eaten dinner at like four or five o'clock. You're a little hungry late at night. You're like, you know what? Let me get a little Papa John. Don't say the n-word garlic sauce and just just destroy yourself. There's a certain specialty of of bad pizza that.
It's very nice.
Do we not love pizza?
Matt Lavelle (3:12)
Justin, Justin, can I ask you when you said the French boat pizza, right, we're talking it's like on a long, it's almost like a baguette. It's like it's like submarine shaped, right? Like it's long.
Justin Richardson (3:24)
Yeah, North Penn, the actual like because North Penn, right?
Matt Lavelle (3:28)
We had two styles of pizza. We had the French boat one, but then we had like the tiny deep dish ones.
Liam Reese (3:34)
Remember, that one was all right.
Justin Richardson (3:37)
Tiny dish.
Matt Lavelle (3:39)
I didn't that one was at least edible.
Justin Richardson (3:41)
It was a certain level of oil that like the pepperoni released on top. It was just a beautiful.
Matt Lavelle (3:47)
Right. Right. It had its charms. Sure.
Liam Reese (3:50)
But the French boat, I was like, there's also a pretty good chance the boat is like the worst of the worst, dude, that that is actually the worst.
Bern (4:00)
Stouffer's boat.
Justin Richardson (4:01)
And then also get ahead of it before anyone says anything. StuffCross is disgusting. It never worked out. It was never good.
Liam Reese (4:08)
Yeah, I'm not going to die on that hill.
Justin Richardson (4:11)
Every once in a while, you get high and you like, that looks so good and then you order it and you have it and it's cold.
Bern (4:18)
It's never lived. I don't feel like it's ever lived up to what my expectation of it was.
Justin Richardson (4:22)
I've never been like, oh, man, trick you. That was worth the extra four bucks every three, four years. It'll get you.
Liam Reese (4:29)
And why are you trying to reinvent the wheel? So here's the thing. The further you get from just like the regular thin crust pizza, the worse you get. You know what I mean?
Justin Richardson (4:40)
But there's like a there's a the pan style dominoes when we were kids was incredible. Like buttery edged crust.
Matt Lavelle (4:47)
Yeah, the pizza.
Justin Richardson (4:48)
And they're like, so like Papa John's has a New York style, which gets like kind of close to that. But it's not the same as when we were kids. Papa John's has fallen so far from grace. Like it's it's nowhere near what it used to be.
