Hello, and welcome to another episode of the Working Perspectives Podcast. It's episode 564 We got a lot of fun for you today. We're talking four dads by dads on this episode. So here's what we got going on. We got three dads and we're going over, honestly, one of the greatest things you'll ever do as a kid.
Some people call it Field Day. Some people call it Olympic Day.
Everybody calls it the best day of the year.
Literally, across the board, no matter what age, no matter what school, no matter what gender, Olympic Day, Field Day, whatever, it's the greatest day. We're going to give you the do's, the don'ts, the ups, the downs, the lefts, the rights, the dad views, the kid views, everything we love and hate about it. So let's get started. It's the Working Perspectives Podcast, episode 564 I'm Matt Lavelle, he's Bern Pockese, that good-looking bastard is Liam Reese. Let's get started.
All right, fellas, so, got a dozer today. Honestly, super excited to talk about this. Super excited to get into it. We're talking about Olympic Day slash Field Day. Man, this thing's the best. So let's start off with a little bit of logistics. All right. So, you know, honestly, I'm a big prep the night before guy. You got to know what we're wearing. Got to get our shoes ready. Got to get our outfits ready. My, I know Liam, yours did too. Mine, they give you a t-shirt to wear because that's the color team you're on, you know? So Liam, let's go to you. I want to talk to you because we were kind of in the same field here. What's the lead up for Olympic Day? This is also your sixth Olympic Day.
Yes. Including kindergarten? All right. Talk to me. Olympic Day. Hit it.

**Liam Reese** (1:56)
Yeah.
But it was so much more. They give you the shirt, but I have a daughter, so fucking forget about it. Because she wants face paint and a special tie for her hair and bracelets and these gloves we did one year and a different color eye black and then when they get a little bit older, they get to talking with their friends and then they want to do the same thing, like all wear the same shit. So then you got to get with the parents and find out which Amazon thing they bought and where they got this stuff from a store. It gets pretty detail.

**Matt Lavelle** (2:41)
You know, dude, I mean, I kind of love though, like, you know, it's my daughter's first year because she's in kindergarten. So she just had a shirt on and stuff and whatever. But we went to the bus stop and like one girl had cut her shirt and like tied it up. So it was all like frilly and they had matching, like she had cut pieces off the shirt to tie in her hair for a headband. They all had face paint on. The one girl had like a cowgirl hat and was like, she looked like Braveheart with the face paint. Like they were going all out. And then when I went there, there was girls that had like cut their shirts and beaded them. And you know what I mean? Like they had really, you know, done a number on like getting ready to go, like really took it serious, which I loved. I absolutely loved.

**Bern Pockese** (3:27)
Hey, look good, play good, man. Look good, play good. That's what Dion said.

**Matt Lavelle** (3:32)
You're not wrong. You're not wrong. Ben Deeds, you're a little bit out in the country. So what, you know, how's field day for you guys?

**Bern Pockese** (3:40)
Yeah, I think it was, I mean, when he was younger, it was just like they go outside, each class would have some time out there. It wasn't really a competitive thing.
This year, his school's a little bigger. So there's like three different third grade classes. So they all competed against each other.

**Matt Lavelle** (3:55)
Love it.

**Bern Pockese** (3:55)
You were with your class. So let's talk about today. And so they did like they did kickball.

**Matt Lavelle** (4:01)
Okay.

**Bern Pockese** (4:02)
They did relay races.

**Matt Lavelle** (4:05)
Did you have any prep for this? Like, did you talk to him beforehand of what to expect?

**Bern Pockese** (4:10)
Not really. No, I didn't really know when it was.

**Matt Lavelle** (4:13)
Yeah.

**Bern Pockese** (4:13)
I mean, just I didn't happen. It was last Thursday.
So I got out about like a day before. But he's a third grade boy man.

**Matt Lavelle** (4:20)
So like, it's all that's every day for him. Every day is Olympic Day.
