All right. So our first topic of the podcast is a brand new EV from Jaguar. We talked about Jaguar a little bit in the past, very briefly. They, you know, were trying to get into EVs a while ago. Didn't really go well. A lot of their cars were repurposed as Waymo's. You know, they weren't great sellers, so Waymo, I believe, as an organization, was able to get a bunch of them as a fleet for a decent price. But Jaguar stopped making cars.
They pretty much put an end to production. They were struggling to sell the cars that they already had. So they had a lot of cars are sitting there to be sold. But also, they wanted to go into a new direction. And they unveiled a new concept car a while back, that with this ad campaign, it was very colorful and it was supposed to be the car that they were going to relaunch the Jaguar brand with. And that car got a bit of mixed, I would say mostly negative feedback. I mean, the car was designed to be electric, which a lot of Jaguar enthusiasts may not be super into the idea of an electric car.
It was also a very boxy kind of estate kind of looking car, almost like a Rolls Royce or a Bentley, which I think does kind of fit in with the Jaguar kind of thesis of big, large sedans that they have been known for in the past. One of their main flagship vehicles was the, you have the smaller sedans like the S type and the X type, but also the XJ, which is one of their flagship vehicles. It's existed, it has pretty big lineage. But essentially, they launched this concept and then kind of went dark. Because the feedback was kind of not great, we didn't really hear much from them. But this past week, they did finally unveil the production version of that concept called the Jaguar Type 1 This is, like I mentioned, it's going to be a sedan. Now, the changes, one of the main changes from the concept to the actual production vehicle is that the concept was a two-door vehicle. And this is actually going to be a four-door large sedan. I think it has almost like a Bentley kind of presence to it, but it is much more boxy. It has very, a very large long hood, which is not something that you normally see in an electric vehicle. And I think I'm going to come back to a little bit to that later, because I think that's a little bit of the good thing about this vehicle, and also a lot of the downsides of this vehicle. As first impressions seeing car reviewers and car sites taking a look at this for the first time. But some of the interesting things, I watched a video from CarWow, and they talked about the story of this vehicle was that the designers got the first take, right? They got to design the car, and then according to them, they told the engineers, okay, try to find a way to make this possible. And I think that was the thesis for this car because I think, and I'm curious to get your impressions of this, but just looking at the exterior idea of this vehicle, it looks really, really cool in my opinion. I think it takes what the Cybertruck was trying to do. It takes that idea and makes it much more normal, like, typical kind of car aesthetic, but also futuristic in a lot of ways too. I think it looks ultimately very cool. And it also comes with some pretty decent specs. So it has over 1,000 horsepower, 1,030 horsepower at its maximum. It has up to 644 kilometers of range.
They are talking about 400 miles. Now this is rated to, I believe, European specs, so I think the actual North American spec will be lower. And they are aiming for a to 100 kilometers a second or a to 60 time of about 3.2 seconds. And all of this will be on sale starting at, I believe, around $130,000, which sounds like a lot. But I think when one of these specs, I think they're mixed, they're a mixed bag. I think the to 60 time is a little bit slow compared to something like a Lucid or a Tesla.
