Welcome back to the SENWA studio. We're out here at Optus Stadium on this Tuesday morning. Gonna be a nice sunny day in Perth, of course, after a few showers over the last couple of days. Well, the WA State 18s girls have had a fairly rocky start to their national championships.
Eliza Reilly from CODE Sports is the guru when it comes to AFLW and the talent development pathways coming through the system. She joined us on the show now. Eliza, welcome.

**Eliza Reilly** (1:32)
Good morning, Duff.

**Mark Duffield** (1:34)
So, Eliza, two games for two losses for the WA girls. They were more competitive against Vic Metro on the weekend, but still not quite able to get the chocolates.

**Eliza Reilly** (1:47)
Yeah, absolutely. It was a much better performance in their round one display against South Australia, where they just didn't have a foothold at all in the game and ended up losing by 52 points. Most of the damage was done in the first half and WA held their own in the second. Whereas this game on the weekend at Coburn was sort of flipped. WA were the better side in the first half and actually led at the main break, which was a fantastic result off the back of their pressure and individual efforts. Whereas in the second half, Vic Metro just came out and kicked six at. I mean, it's goals and WA couldn't find a way to respond. So there was some good individual performances, but unfortunately the WA team is very sort of bottom heavy, being that a lot of the girls playing at the moment are not expected to be drafted or not eligible to be drafted until next year or the year after.
The talent pool for this year is maybe a little bit shallow in terms of girls we expect to make their way onto AFLW's list, but that means that they're building a team that's gonna be really competitive in a couple of years time with someone like a Caitlin Boss from Super Yak on the weekend. She's only 15 years old and she's probably one of WA's better players and led disposals with 23 for the day. So a bit to take away and obviously they have a weekend off now before lining up against a big country on the 4th of July.

**Mark Duffield** (3:10)
So let's run through a few of those performance and you mentioned Caitlin Boss. They call her Bossum Pelly. Tell us a little bit about her.

**Eliza Reilly** (3:18)
Yeah, Bossum Pelly was the name thrown around on the weekend for a game and she definitely lived up to that billing with the sort of way she moves with the foot in hand. She's just so clean, so sort of evasive in traffic and always makes the right decisions. She's going to be a really exciting prospect to watch when it comes to the draft in a couple of years' time, but to come in the way she did on the weekend and have that sort of performance as a 15 year old on day three for the WA teams. I mean, she tore up a trial match a couple of weeks ago and they reckon she had about 25 and kicked two goals, so it was always a matter of when, not if she was going to play for WA this year.

**Mark Duffield** (3:58)
So which club does she hail from, Eliza?

**Eliza Reilly** (4:01)
The Super Yakko Lions.

**Mark Duffield** (4:03)
Now, Charlie Fletcher. Tell us a bit about her.
