Welcome back to the Daily Crypto Roundup. Yesterday, Bitcoin rose while oil crossed $100. Today, that protection failed. The European Central Bank raised interest rates. United States producer inflation stayed hot. Oil reached another cycle high and Bitcoin fell below $77,000.

At the same time, Nasdaq invested $100 million in Kraken's parent. MoneyGram turned stable coins into a spending card and $2 billion of Indian Grain is moving toward blockchain-backed finance. At the time of recording, Bitcoin is around $77,300, down approximately 1.9% over 24 hours after touching $76,748.

Ethereum is near $2,440 and down roughly 2.3%.

XRP is close to $1.36 after losing about 4.2%, while BNB is around $708 and down 4.6%.

Solana is near $99.85. Cardano is close to $0.21, and Chainlink is around $11.64.

Hyperliquid is the weakest large cap move in this group, near $80.90 after falling approximately 5.8%.

Crypto trading involves risk of loss. The lead story is a monetary policy squeeze arriving from several directions at once. The European Central Bank raised all three of its key rates by 25 basis points today. Its deposit rate will reach 2.50%, the main refinancing rate 2.65% and the marginal lending rate 2.90% when the change takes effect on September 16th. This is the European Central Bank's second increase of 2026

The bank said the Middle East conflict is generating inflation pressure and forecast headline inflation, averaging 3% this year, above its 2% target. It also raised its 2027 and 2028 inflation projections. Its warning was blunt. Risks point upward for inflation and downward for economic growth. The United States added its own complication. Producer prices increased 0.4% in August and 5.4% from a year earlier, slightly above the expected annual rate. Core producer inflation was softer month-to-month at 0.2%, but accelerated to 4.6% annually. James Thorne, Chief Market Strategist at Wellington Altus, noted that the unrounded monthly core reading was only 0.162%, the second lowest in a year. That is the best counterargument to a uniformly hot report. Markets nevertheless focused on the annual pressure, expensive energy and the approaching Federal Reserve decision. West Texas Intermediate Crude crossed $100 for the first time since May. Brent Crude moved above $105, and the United States 10-year Treasury yield reached approximately 4.93%.

The market-implied chance of a quarter-point Federal Reserve increase next week climbed to roughly 3 and 4 Bitcoin's fall matters because it follows yesterday's modest gain beside gold while shares declined.

One day suggested possible safe haven demand. Today shows that higher yields and tighter policy expectations still exert powerful pressure. Two sessions cannot define a permanent relationship in either direction. What changed today is the European Central Bank's actual decision, the producer price report, new oil highs and Bitcoin's loss of $78,000.

What did not change is the Federal Reserve's rate or next week's vote. The European Central Bank also said it is not committing to a fixed rate path. Cash and government bonds become stronger competitors when yields rise. Existing Bitcoin holders benefit only if price can absorb that competition. Leveraged buyers lose first when it cannot.

Sarity partner strategist Jim Lebbenthal said investors were looking for softer data, but it wasn't soft enough. The decisive test is tomorrow's United States Consumer Price Report. Would you treat today's move below $77,000 as proof that yesterday's safe haven behavior was noise, or require several more oil and equity shocks before deciding? Bitcoin must first recover $78,000 and then $80,000.

A sustained loss of today's approximately $76,750 low would expose the recent support area near $76,300.

The macro interpretation can change tomorrow before the Federal Reserve meets on September 15th and 16th. The second story joins a conventional market operator to a crypto group preparing tokenized shares. Nasdaq Ventures invested $100 million in Payward, Kraken's parent company, at a $21 billion valuation. Payward will also deploy Nasdaq's market surveillance technology across its crypto, equities, futures, options and tokenized asset venues. The companies are targeting the second quarter of 2027 for Nasdaq equity tokens. Their stated aim is for tokenized shares to keep the voting and economic rights of conventional stock rather than becoming detached price trackers. Payward Co-Chief Executive Arjun Sethi described the promise simply, On-chain settlement removes the weight.

What changed is the investment, partnership and target quarter. What did not change is public access. Payward filed confidentially for an initial public offering, but has not published a share price, ticker or completed listing date. The company reported $508 million of adjusted second quarter revenue, while adjusted operating earnings fell to $23 million, and transaction volume declined 18% to $310 billion.
