He came up and he was talking very nicely, and I stood right over here, and I examined his ass. I never did that with...

SPEAKER_3 (0:09)

Drew Lane?

SPEAKER_2 (0:10)

No, I never did that with a man before.

SPEAKER_1 (0:12)

Hey, Drew!

SPEAKER_2 (0:14)

I examined his ass, and then I looked at his shoulders, I looked at his feet, I looked at his hand, I looked at his jawline. I then patted him on the shoulder, and it was like a piece of steel. I sort of...

I'm still recovering my head.

Drew Lane (0:28)

Drew Lane!

Oh, yeah, we're rocking in the dealsnadeed.com studios on a Sunday. We've got some sports to cover, and then we have a whole lot of other things to cover, too. But first, Eli's brought to you by Dr. Yeldoe.

Eli Zaret (0:43)

Well, I guess we should start with, since the Lions didn't play today, we should do college football.

And yesterday's game against Penn State, Michigan Penn State, I said the week before that the Minnesota game was the worst I'd ever seen Michigan play in over 60 years of watching this team. And the first half against Penn State might have even exceeded that. That was so awful as they trailed 3-0 at the half, that when Whittingham walked off the field to answer a few obligatory questions from the typically vapid sideline reporter whose name escapes whether it was Jenny or Holly or whoever, it was just he looked so bewildered and so defeated. Whittingham did, unable to express even any hope of what he was going to do, of what he does about this. And Bryce Underwood's performance, missing an open five-yard pass to Savion Hyder right in front of him, under throwing what should have been a touchdown pass to Andrew Marsh who was intercepted.

Drew Lane (1:46)

He's missing open guys, too. He's throwing the guys that aren't open, missing guys that are open.

Eli Zaret (1:51)

He's missing guys that are wide open by more than he misses the guys that are covered. Anyway, first half-fence, five for 11, 43 yards to interceptions. Everybody knew, especially at the halftime, the little panel there, that they had to bring in Tommy Carr. They did. He started the second half. The energy obviously immediately changed. Offensive line starts opening some holes. They run for 37 yards in the first half, and 175

Drew Lane (2:19)

Well, weren't the... Okay, either the team was just completely sparked, or weren't the reads significantly better, possibly?

Eli Zaret (2:25)

Well, yeah. I think it was a lot of things.

Marc Fellhauer (2:28)

I think the key was the running, and what you saw is that rhino disappeared. I was telling Eli that drive where Bryce, right before the two-minute timeout in the first half, they had that rhino line out there with the extra defensive lineman playing lineman, and they threw three times out of that. I just don't think the coaches were helping Bryce at all. And then that rhino disappears, and what do you know, Bryce and Kuzdal breaks open a fucking run for a touchdown.

Eli Zaret (2:52)

And they actually threw a pass to a tight end, which they didn't do, because they always had six linemen instead.

SPEAKER_4 (2:56)

It was a totally different type of offense.

Eli Zaret (2:58)

Yeah, so nothing worked with Bryce in there. Probably a lot to do with Bryce, but...

Drew Lane (3:04)

Probably.

Marc Fellhauer (3:05)

But you gotta do something, and it worked.

Eli Zaret (3:08)

Well, there was no running attack, so was that Bryce's fault that there's no running attack?

Drew Lane (3:12)

Well, is he misreading his RPO? I mean, William says, this is our offense. He's gotta know it. He has to learn it.

Eli Zaret (3:19)

He obviously cannot keep up with the pace of play when the game starts. As Mark was saying, he knows people went to practice, but parents were allowed in on Thursday or something.

Drew Lane (3:27)

Yeah, Thursday.

Marc Fellhauer (3:28)

He's talking to a player's dad who went.

Eli Zaret (3:30)

And he just lights it up in practice.

Marc Fellhauer (3:32)

He's unreal in practice, makes all the right reads. So, you know, you get to the field, and the crowd's there, and you have to think faster, and he just apparently cannot do it.

Eli Zaret (3:41)

And I think the question...

Drew Lane (3:42)

I've seen guys that are great in practice and can't hit the fucking game.

Marc Fellhauer (3:45)

But I mean, the idea that they're playing him because of Larry Ellison's money is ludicrous.
