The Hulu Original Series, The Kardashians, is back. Season eight, isn't it great?

Sean Gorman (0:05)

This year has been insane. Have you dated anyone privately?

SPEAKER_3 (0:09)

Let me just say this, I can't control myself.

SPEAKER_1 (0:14)

What about you? I'm single, I might be ready to mingle.

SPEAKER_3 (0:18)

Of course I'm getting more action than Glowy.

Mark Duffield (0:20)

You think I walk around with this smile on my face for nothing?

SPEAKER_3 (0:23)

Oh my God.

SPEAKER_1 (0:24)

All episodes of season eight are now streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney Plus for bundle subscribers. Terms apply.

Mark Duffield (0:37)

Yes, it is time for Duff and the Doctor coming to you thanks to Blackline. That is BLAK Line, Aboriginal-owned business, delivering signage, print, promotional products, and creative services with cultural integrity and impact.

Words we closely associate with Dr. Sean Gorman, who joins me in the studio. Sean, welcome.

Sean Gorman (1:01)

G'day, Duff, g'day, listeners. No, very good introduction there. No, there's a lot going on at the moment. A lot going on. No, I'll tell you what, though.

Everyone in the office here, listeners, is all kind of struck down by the hay fever that's going around, and coming down from the train station to the studio, howling easterly, howling easterly. So, I hope everyone's taken their Zyrtec or whatever they need to in order to clear the sinuses. But yeah, there's a lot going on in the footy world.

Mark Duffield (1:30)

Luratidine, that's my anti-histamine.

SPEAKER_1 (1:32)

Luratidine.

Mark Duffield (1:33)

One a day, and it A, keeps you free of hay fever, and B, also, because it dries up your sinuses, it actually makes you less likely to catch colds during winter, because you're nice and dry, so you don't get any sort of like infections.

Sean Gorman (1:51)

You heard it first, maybe you should get a doctoral prefix to your name, too, Duff. No, unbelievable.

Mark Duffield (1:58)

I'm more an old wives' tale man than a science man. Sean, you know that. Very good. You've known me for a good while now. Hey, the trade period, it's closing, well, winding up today.

No doubt it'll be a stage-managed crescendo that the AFL will try and work to.

Sean Gorman (2:17)

Yep.

Mark Duffield (2:18)

They do stage-manage it, don't they?

Sean Gorman (2:20)

Well, it seems to be that way. And look, I must admit, after the season had finished, when I was working at the AFL, and even, I suppose, before and today and now, once the season's wound down, you might take a bit of a notice of the trading of the horses and all the rest of it. But by and large, you try and reset and catch up on work that you've missed out on over the course of the finals, because that's just one big lead in to Christmas Day, so to speak. So but yeah, the stage management thing, I think in terms of clubs holding out and really playing hardball in terms of what they want, what picks they want for what cattle is quite interesting to see. So yeah, so it's obviously the 24-hour, 24-7 news cycle plays a bit into that and the drama that goes with it and all the things. We've only got to see how that played out with Blakey and the situation just with the Pullman Five alone over the last few days, which has been fascinating to see how people have commentated on that and looked at it and unpicked it a little bit. So there you go.

Mark Duffield (3:30)

So what do you make of that? So North Melbourne brings in Blakey, who has always maintained he was barely in the room at the Pullman, and this has caused angst between him and Sydney and basically led him to want to be traded. I wonder whether the Swans suspended him because he was home after the other blokes.

So the blokes who came home and ordered the dancers, Yes, the entertainment. he got home after them.

Sean Gorman (4:00)

Yeah, right.

Mark Duffield (4:01)

And basically looked in on the way through. So I wonder whether maybe that's why he got suspended as well. I thought, well, if these dudes were out and clearly not in a great state to make good decisions.

Sean Gorman (4:16)

Not being professional.

Mark Duffield (4:17)

When they came back and he was in after them, maybe that's why he got suspended. But that is caused the angst between him and them. Now, North Melbourne recruits him. And let's remember that none of these people have been charged. Yet. They've been... And this is the three layers to the Sydney thing. There is what the club views as unprofessional behaviour, what the community views as unacceptable behaviour, and what the law might view as potentially illegal behaviour. So three layers. So clearly Nick Blakey is in the club's eyes guilty of unprofessional behaviour.
