I needed a doctor on the weekend. I've had the flu really badly, Duff, and I've just been slowly getting through it, but I've been sucking down the lozenges and hopefully my golden tonsils will come through and save the day. But anyway, we shall see.

So, the Hall of Fame dinner was last night.

Yeah. Greatest night.

You've been to a few?

**Sean Gorman** (2:10)
I've been to about four of them. And look, it is the best night on the calendar. And the reason for that is because you've actually got people in the room. There's no sort of sense of account with regards to the Brownlow or the season opener where there's expectation or not.
But it's about people, football people, telling football stories. And you've got the wonderful situation that occurred last night and some of the great, you know, Billy Walker, Woosher, Gary Ableton, Dustin Fletcher, the great David Cantilla. That story alone is an amazing story. And then you've got the greatest, one of the best blokes I've ever met within the AFL was Hayden Kennedy. Just the funniest, funniest, most personable person I could ever come across for an umpire. And that's saying something. No, he's a ripper. So no, but it's the best night of the calendar. And yeah, you just can't, you know, if anyone out there gets an opportunity to go, take it, absolutely.

So the one on the list that West Australians won't be as familiar with is David Cantilla.

**Sean Gorman** (3:19)
Yep.

**Mark Duffield** (3:20)
Tell us about him. Is this a subject you'd be familiar with?

**Sean Gorman** (3:24)
Totally. Well, he was in the Indigenous Team of the Century. And like Norm MacDonald, when I wrote the book on the Indigenous Team of the Century, which came out in 2011, he and Norm MacDonald had passed away.

**Mark Duffield** (3:35)

And some bad ones.
So, but the situation is, is that, yeah, David Cantilla's story is like, he's like this, like a bit like Billy Dempsey, who came down and he went down to West Perth, obviously. And then you've got, you know, David Cantilla has come from the Tiwi and that long legacy of great Tiwi players, obviously, Rioli's long, so on and so forth. And, you know, David Cantilla, he was, he was the guy, he came down, his wife was profoundly deaf. So when they get down to the Panthers down there in Adelaide, she's profoundly deaf and, you know, they're seriously identifiably Aboriginal, like they're Tiwis. You know, we saw last night, the nephews of David Cantilla last night. So they come into a situation which is, you know, very foreign to them and they have to work hard, I suppose, in order to fit in. And David Cantilla does that by virtue of the fact that he brings that wonderful Tiwi style of football, which we all know and love. And if we've ever been up to the Tiwis to see any of the grand finals or the games of football up there, you know what I'm talking about. And this is back in the 60s when it was a very plodding, slow style of, you know, football. So he was an outstanding talent, died too early, was jumping off a truck, a flatbed truck up on the Tiwis and got caught underneath a wheel of it, which was a great shame. And but his legacy still lives on today in terms of those things and not just in terms of the Tiwis, but Darwin and the territory story, which is significant in itself, given the amount of champions that have come through that pathway over many, many years.
