What can people do who want to make a difference, who simply want to live and make their contribution? The first thing that I would tell them is what Bill Russell told that crowd. Do not be afraid, personally, politically, socially, culturally, don't be afraid to walk up to that person who's wearing a hijab and say, you know, I don't know a lot of Muslims, but you look like a person that I would love to know. Tell me about yourself.
This is who I am. Don't be afraid.

All right, welcome back or welcome to the Finding Mastery podcast. I'm Michael Gervais. And the idea behind these conversations is to learn from people who are on the path of mastery. To better understand what they're searching for and to dig underneath to understand their psychological framework, which is how they see the world works, how they understand how they work and people work, how they explain events, how they see and understand their craft. And then we also want to dig to understand the mental skills that they've used to build and refine their craft.
I want to take a minute here to announce a really exciting event that we have coming up. As you continue to navigate the challenges and opportunities of 2024, I want to pose a question. It's been amazing to see how this podcast has grown and it's happened faster and larger than we thought possible. And I think it's because how hungry so many of us are to grow and to really want to be a better version of ourselves. And these conversations are not just about ideas, they're meant to be applied in nature. Learning how optimal ways of thinking impact the doing. And for sure, these conversations are not about doing more.
In fact, the model that we need to do more to be more, it's completely broken. These conversations are about revealing how to be more to do more. And it's been so much fun to see what you guys have done with the community and sharing. And I know that you're gonna wanna share this conversation. It is loaded. This conversation is with Dr. Harry Edwards and it's intense. The center of this conversation is Dr. Edwards' journey to impact human rights through the experiences of the African-American athlete.
