They're guys, they do magic. They are The Magic Guys.
Josh Norbido (0:10)
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to episode 285 of The Magic Guys. To my left is Doug Conn.
Doug Conn (0:19)
Hey, I'm back. That's what we call this episode, I'm back.
Josh Norbido (0:23)
Yeah, he's back, baby.
Doug Conn (0:25)
Was actually back last week, but our guest bailed on us today, so we had to come up with an episode. So now it's me.
Josh Norbido (0:32)
We wanted, I mean, we wanted a reason to have an episode where we can catch everyone up on what you're doing in Vegas. And it just happened to work out. Nick is also here. It's just that I guess we're going to hear the story when he comes back, but he said he just went to the rescue to help jumpstart someone's car or something. So Nick is using his powers for good.
No, that was me. So like we do, his camera is logged in. It's just not at the screen right now. But we also have our friends in the chat here with us. What's up, Tim Afskin, Scotty Link.
Doug Conn (1:08)
Oh, yeah. What's up, bros?
Josh Norbido (1:09)
The boys are here.
Doug Conn (1:10)
Thanks for tuning in.
Josh Norbido (1:12)
I'm running with a slight cold today. So if you're wondering why he has that sexy deep voice going on.
Doug Conn (1:19)
Such a boss. I told Norbido, you should do what I do and just hide for a month. Go be sick. It's okay.
Josh Norbido (1:25)
It would be nice.
Doug Conn (1:26)
I could do the Just Me episode by myself. I don't need you, man. I could do this alone.
Josh Norbido (1:30)
That's true. That's true. But I've seen you been doing it on your own channel by yourself.
Doug Conn (1:36)
Back in the saddle. I'm climbing back on it.
Josh Norbido (1:41)
Yeah. How does it feel?
Doug Conn (1:44)
It's a lot in my brain, but once I get on there and start doing it, it feels like sitting in a comfortable couch. I really feel like what I'm doing is what I should be doing.
I don't know. You want to get these things right, so you put pressure on yourself and it's a lot going on. So lining up all the things to make all of these things work. You do this in your channel and you're a professional. It's hard, right?
Josh Norbido (2:11)
Yeah. If you get out of the swing of it, it can be bloody hard to get back into it again.
Doug Conn (2:17)
Yeah. Oh boy. Let me tell you about that and also about what I've been through health-wise recently just to be able to say words again much less set up right, so yeah.
Josh Norbido (2:27)
Yeah.
So take us through it, but where do we start? Is it when you decide to leave Trick Supply? Is that when this kind of adventure starts?
Doug Conn (2:36)
Let's start here. For years, I've wanted to have some dental upgrades. Going back to when I was actually 18 years old, I broke a tooth and I had a bridge put in when I was young, 18, 20, and then 15 years later, that thing broke in my mouth and took a couple teeth with it. Through the years, that just led to my upper mouths not being healthy. So about two months ago, I don't know the exact date, but I elected to have all of the teeth removed.
That's a temporary denture if you're watching online. That's wearing, I'll have a permanent denture that's improved and more comfortable. I'll be able to speak better. But that's always been in my plan and I'm super happy to have that done. It was a nightmare to be clear, but it's over now.
Josh Norbido (3:25)
Yeah, I mean, hey, it looks good just from even that being a temporary one.
Doug Conn (3:29)
Yeah, and it'll look much better. And I also have a partial lower that I've struggled with, I'm not wearing, and all of this is temporary and will be improved. So that's the biggest roller coaster in my life. And yes, I've left Trick Supply. That was the job that brought me to Las Vegas. And no regrets, you know, I put some blood, sweat, and tears into that job.
I think I killed it, like I brushed it there. Can't imagine doing a much better job than I did. And now I'm on to doing just me again, and I'm pretty happy about that, actually. You know, there's a lot I want to get done in this city, or myself, and really around the world, around the United States, and I can't do that after working a full-time job, you know, five, six days a week, 60 hours a week, so, yeah. Back to being an artist again, and that's thrilling.
