I saw a trailer trashed, Tammy, in the LAX airport, actually, just a couple days ago, and we were surrounded by dogs. There were dogs everywhere.

No, it's just her and Libby. They didn't have a dog, but I feel like every third person that we saw had a dog. No carriers.
I did see one dog popping out of a carrier, but it wasn't zipped in. And it was every different type of dog, too. I think that's just kind of the LA scene, where they were all small or they were pretty small. None of them were like causing a ruckus. None of them were really problematic. There was two cats on our plane, by the way. And they were meowing the whole freaking time.

And apparently there are parts of America where you're more likely to be screwed twice by a dog, once by the dog and then again by the law. A new study tried to figure out the worst states in America to be bitten by a dog. And they didn't just look at how many people were attacked. They actually factored in how frequently attacks happen, how expensive the claims are, and how exposed people are to dogs, and how much legal protection victims actually have. You'd be surprised to know that not all the states are on the bitee's side. The worst state overall, New York. The rest of the top ten were North Dakota, Virginia, Kansas, Arkansas, California, Alaska, Nevada, Mississippi, and Connecticut. Here's where it gets interesting.
If we're talking strictly about your chances of actually getting bitten, Florida ranks number one. You are more likely to be bitten by a dog in Florida than any other state in this union. Yet Florida has relatively strict laws holding dog owners very accountable, so it ranks much lower when everything else is combined. The Dog Bites are becoming a surprisingly expensive problem, too.
There are 28,450 dog-related homeowner insurance claims in 2025 Now, I know a few people in our neighborhood who have been bit by a dog or their dog has been attacked by these other dogs, and I don't think anybody's doing homeowner insurance claims. So if there's almost 30,000 claims, imagine how many people are actually getting hit by dogs, that's up more than 25 percent from the year before. Those claims totaled $1.86 billion with the average payout reaching roughly 65 grand. Here's a crazy one for everybody who delivers stuff for a living. The Postal Service reported more than 5,200 serious dog attacks on mail carriers just last year.
