Stefon Diggs, we had a great year last year for the Patriots. I was great with the Texans before he got hurt there, and has been great his entire career.
Now creates a little problem. A little problem, Jayden Daniels. Now is another weapon.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:15)
I wonder, should the Giants have considered that? We just talked about there.
You say no.

**Craig Carton** (0:20)
No.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:21)
Considering they don't have a second best wide receiver right now, your words, that's literally.

**Craig Carton** (0:25)
I didn't see what his contract was.

**SPEAKER_3** (0:27)
Yeah, we got to see what the contract is.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:29)
But here's my only question to that, right? Because I know there's an issue and I don't know if, I'd have to go and read his situation. Is he have a law situation in pending?

**Craig Carton** (0:38)
No, he won his case.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:40)
He won his case, right? So he's got nothing to worry about as far as that.

**Craig Carton** (0:42)
I mean, my good is that Stefon Diggs always has something to worry about.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:46)
It could be around the next corner. There's no doubt about it.

**Craig Carton** (0:48)
So it's a $12 million deal. It's one year deal up to $12 million.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:53)
That's what his deal is in Washington. I just want to say one thing about it because this is how I feel. When you have a culture building coach, I don't think the point is then avoid anyone who could be a problem to that.

**SPEAKER_3** (1:08)
No, I agree.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:08)
I think it's the opposite.

**SPEAKER_3** (1:09)
Can he play?

**Chris McMonigle** (1:10)
I think it's can he play? And I trust my culture building head coach to fit him into the culture. Yeah, I mean, that's why O'Dell Beckham's here, right? A little bit, yeah. I mean, he's at the tail end of his career.

**Craig Carton** (1:21)
Yeah, theoretically more mature.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:23)
And you're not so worried, because he's trying to just hang on to a job. Like, off of last year, Diggs probably still thinks himself a top-wide receiver. Yeah.

**Craig Carton** (1:31)
O'Dell Beckham's making minimum.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:32)
Yeah, exactly right. It's a different situation. My point is, because I remember this with Glenn and all the stuff surrounding Roger.

**Craig Carton** (1:38)
I'd rather the Giants have signed him than a competitor gets him. Yeah. Stefon Diggs is a problem.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:44)
Stefon Diggs can still play. He can still play.

**Craig Carton** (1:45)
At a very high level.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:46)
I agree.

**Craig Carton** (1:47)
He was great for Drake May last year, so I kind of flippantly said no, because I think he's always a problem waiting to happen. He was in Minnesota, he was in Buffalo, he was in Houston. That was more injury based, to be fair. And obviously he had a great year in New England, and then all of a sudden, you're accused of beating up your chef, and having 19 kids all over the country, etc. Which is not in and of itself a problem, obviously.
But I think when you're building a culture with a second year quarterback that already likes fame in the limelight, maybe a guy like Stefon Diggs is not the right guy to have around him.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:24)
That's pretty much my question. My question is, would you run from situations like that, or do you embrace them if it brings talent to the team?

**Craig Carton** (2:31)
Depends on the player.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:32)
Okay.

**Craig Carton** (2:33)
Like, Stefon Diggs can still play, but he's also at the last stage of his career.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:38)
This was my point about the Jets when they hired Glenn and Aaron Rodgers, because everyone's like, oh, get him out of here. He would be a problem. And he would be, Glenn would be talking to the front of the room, and we'd be worried about what Aaron Rodgers is saying in the back of the room and all that crap. And I'm like, well, I thought he was coming here to be a culture building head coach. So to me, I don't run from that. I take on the talented players. What did we say for a generation of every player who had a problem?
He's going to end up with New England.

**Craig Carton** (3:07)
Correct.

**Chris McMonigle** (3:07)
And Belichick is going to figure it out.

**Craig Carton** (3:08)
Belichick, because everyone in the court of court behaves because they want to win.

**Chris McMonigle** (3:11)
Belichick's going to figure him out, and he'll be incredibly good there.
