Welcome to The Ringer Fantasy Football Show. My name is Danny Heifetz. I'm joined by Danny Kelly and Craig Horlbeck. We're going over all the games from week three of Sunday of week three of the NFL season. And we're going to start with Rams Broncos, the Sunday football game that just concluded. I think the Rams were robbed. That was really weird because the Rams total, totally intercepted a pass at the end of the Broncos game winning drive. And then they called a foul on the Rams defensive back, who intercepted a pass, even though it was clearly, clearly a foul on the Broncos.
And so on one hand, I think the Rams were robbed, like unambiguously.
Craig Horlbeck (3:40)
I would agree with that. The receiver, was it Pat Bryant? Who was it? Troy Franklin?
Danny Kelly (3:43)
Yeah, Pat Bryant.
SPEAKER_1 (3:44)
It was Pat Bryant. Incredible acting job.
Craig Horlbeck (3:47)
He did a great job. It was successful. But that was a remarkable interception by the Rams.
When you bring in Terry, Terry's like, yeah, I don't, I don't know.
Danny Kelly (3:57)
I don't see anything. I don't see anything that would indicate that was a foul by the defender.
Craig Horlbeck (4:02)
I don't, again, it bears repeating. We haven't talked about it yet in 2026 When they bring in the ref specialist, and he's like, my job is to clear things up and let you know what me as an expert thinks. And he's like, that was a pick.
It's ridiculous that we can't change the call to what the specialist tells 25 million Americans is the correct call. And yet, it's not allowed. I don't get it.
Danny Heifetz (4:28)
They should just be in charge of the process. Like they should just let him make the decision. It would be clear to everybody. I will say this. I don't want to complain about this too much because the reality is, and DK, I'm curious what you think. This was a ball don't lie, whether it's cosmic. I don't think it's intentional or conspiracy, but this is ball don't lie for the 2018 NFC Championship game, which is the worst foul call in my lifetime in any sport, which is when the Saints committed the defensive pass interference that was not called. And literally the Rams went to the Super Bowl instead of the Saints because of the worst call I've ever seen. That was Sean Payton versus Sean McVeigh and the Rams, and it was Bill Vinovich was the same ref. Now, it wasn't the same lower level ref that made the mistake, but it was Bill Vinovich, Sean Payton, Sean McVeigh, everyone, same people. So I'm like, yeah, the Rams kind of went to a Super Bowl because of this, so who cares?
