Defense Dominates Scrimmage, Pat Bryant Play of Camp, & Lots More | Inside Broncos Camp

Saturday scrimmage here at Broncos Training Camp. And before I tell you if the offense or defense won, make sure to hit us with a thumbs up and subscribe to this channel. We are at every single Broncos game practice event. They just wrapped up six straight practices. We were at every single one of them, and we'll be back for the next practice on Monday. We want to make sure that you're rocking and rolling with us, so we appreciate that. And the defense shut down this scrimmage today. This was the most scrimmage-like practice that the Broncos are going to have in training camp. And despite missing a number of key players to veteran rest days, the defense did not take the day off, and it started right off the bat, the defense dominating. The first play of team period, Malcolm Roach came up with a sack on Bo Nix. Just a few plays later, Q Robinson got Denver's starting quarterback, and Denver's defense limited the air game and the ground game all practice. In a tight red zone period, Vance Joseph's defense kept Davis-Webb's offense out of the end zone on five straight plays before allowing two touchdowns. Gonna tell you about those in just a minute. The final move, the ball period, Bo Nix and the offense were down 24 to 20 with a minute 22 left in the fourth quarter and the ball on their own 38 yard line. They needed to go 62 yards to get a touchdown. And Nix did move the ball down the field, got to the 15 yard line. They had first, second, third down, couldn't do it on fourth and ten.
One second left.
Nix could not complete the pass in the end zone. Defense won. That's kind of how the day went. Defense came up with plays when they needed to. Left and right. Let me tell you about Patty Ice with the play of camp. Arguably the winner the first week of training camp, Pat Bryant has a new nickname. Davis Webb gave Bryant the nickname Patty Ice. And Patty Ice was cold on Saturday. He had the play of training camp so far. In the tight red zone, Nix was under pressure right when the snap was there. A blitz coming off the right side. Bo tossed the ball into the back of the end zone. In double coverage by Jay Kwon and Jaday Baron, Pat Bryant somehow came up with the ball in the back of the end zone, got his feet down, fell down, popped up, threw the ball into the air, celebrating as he should the play of camp so far. Somehow Bo Nix got this ball to Pat Bryant. And somehow Pat Bryant came down with this ball in double coverage. It was incredible. And Pat Bryant is maybe the winner of camp so far in over the first week of training camp. And I'll tell you someone who's cooking right now. While Denver's offense had a tough day overall, rookie running back Jonah Coleman was a bright spot. Coleman displayed good vision and patience on a number of runs inside the tackles on practice today. And his highlight of the day was a powering run for a touchdown in the tight red zone against the first team defenses. Came right on the heels of Pat Bryant catching the touchdown. Jonah Coleman just barreled down through the defense. In fact, Quinn Miners, we know a guy who loves barreling down on defense. Quinn Miner was so proud of Jonah's effort at the goal line. He was the first one to greet him in the end zone. It was a really good play from the rookie who continues to get praised. From Davis Webb, Vance Joseph, and Sean Payton. And unfortunately, we had a new injury pop up minutes before practice ended. Eyioma Uwazurike, the defensive lineman who's having a fantastic training camp, walked off the field with a trainer. He was under his own power, which was good to see.
And we did not get an update from Vance after practice. So we'll see on Monday if he's back out there crossing our fingers that he is. Because after practice, Vance praised the defensive lineman's camps, saying specifically these past two days he has been dominant. And I can vouch for that as well. And there was an emergency at practice today with Will Lutz in Canton, Ohio, attending Drew Brees' Hall of Fame ceremony. The Broncos were without a kicker for practice. We got our first look at who could be Denver's emergency kicker.
And it's not punter Jeremy Croshaw, as Darren Rizzi, the special teams coordinator, made it very clear after practice that Croshaw is a punter, not a kicker. And so we got our first look at who that emergency kicker would be.
