I've died multiple times. I drowned at age six under the water, three or four minutes. I was 39, I had a heart attack. I watched the guy defibrillate me. I could still see the people. I could still hear everything.

**Mayim Bialik** (0:11)
You witnessed something source.

**David A. Williamson** (0:13)
I heard you killed yourself with your personality. Whether I'm in danger or dying, this voice speaks to me. It guides me through the trauma.

**Mayim Bialik** (0:20)
David A. Williamson died, witnessed himself being brought back to life, and shares with us how the experience released him from his attachment to hate and anger.

**David A. Williamson** (0:29)
I saw the KKK bringing in my family, and at age five, I absorbed it all, this energy of hate. I was an angry guy that overwhelmed my nervous system, my body, and my organs, and I died. I died because I hated this place. When I came back, none of those thoughts, none of the attachment was there. I felt like I was fixed.

**Mayim Bialik** (0:46)
It's as if your brain rewired.

**David A. Williamson** (0:48)
There's no pain, no confusion, no anxiety. I know now that my attention creates my experience. I put my attention on hopeful ideas. There is no alone. You are one with everything.

**Mayim Bialik** (0:58)
What do you remember of leaving your body?

**David A. Williamson** (1:00)
The first thought I had.

**Mayim Bialik** (1:09)
Hi, I'm Mayim Bialik.

**Jonathan Cohen** (1:10)
And I'm Jonathan Cohen.

**Mayim Bialik** (1:11)
And welcome to our breakdown.
Wow, have we got an episode for you today. I know so many of you are interested in Near Death Experiences. And we have the opportunity to speak today to David A. Williamson, who about 10 years ago was suffering from a variety of heart-related issues, which resulted in him having a heart attack and a tear in his aorta.
And he died. He died. And he witnessed himself brought back to life. But the experience that he had in this process not only changed the way he returned to life, but changed the way his brain really viewed himself, other people, his relationships. It's one of the most profound shifts that we have ever heard from a near-death experience. What's particularly unusual about this NDE is when David died in the hospital about 10 years ago, it was actually not the first time he had died. When he was six years old, he experienced an unbelievable NDE related to drowning. He believes that it was some of those experiences that actually carried over into the NDE that would happen decades later.

**Jonathan Cohen** (2:28)
David describes what he experienced in the afterlife, the black void that he saw, the light, the beings, and what he saw at the edge of the universe.

**Mayim Bialik** (2:39)
David A. Williamson, welcome to The Breakdown. Break it down.

**David A. Williamson** (2:45)
Thank you for having me.

**Mayim Bialik** (2:46)
You come highly recommended not just as an NDE survivor, but as a human being from our friend, Betty. We're so glad to get to talk with you.
David, maybe you can take us back 10 years or so to what your life was like, where you were living, a little about where you grew up. Yeah.

**David A. Williamson** (3:10)
Who's David? Yeah. I'll go back because I drowned at age six. In the most popular video, I didn't really even remember it. Wow. I didn't recall it as a trauma because I didn't integrate it as a trauma. But as a kid, I was in Yanceyville, North Carolina, like Huck Finn. Everything was, I was in nature all the time. I loved being in nature. I used to dig holes in the ground and anything I found was a treasure to me and I would, instead of using lunch boxes for lunch, I had rocks and bugs and all these treasures that I would collect and I would keep them there.
Everything was magical to me as a child. I felt, I had spiritual gifts as a child. I had lucid dreams often. I thought I was a bird. I had sleep paralysis, which I didn't like, but I learned how to manage.
I heard people's thoughts. I could feel what people were feeling. I knew when adults were lying and I didn't, so I lost respect for authority very early.
And I just figured that I had to figure stuff out. And my mom would send me to people when I had questions. My uncle was a bishop, I think, at the time, a deacon, a deacon at the church at the time.
And I would ask him questions and the questions, the answers I didn't ever really like. And she would ask me, did you get your questions answered? And I'm like, nah, but I'll find the answers. Because I always knew that if I dug for stuff, I would figure it out. Like, it's the same as digging holes in the ground. If I dug, I would find something, always. And so my effort, I would say the effort to just learn and grow and understand reality was my mom encouraged it. She always bought me books. There was these, I think Publishers Clearing House, where you buy, it would be five books for five cents or something like that. And it was a lie, because you had the processing. So it would turn into about 40 bucks. And I thought every time that it was actually, I thought that it was five cents. And she did it for me every single time. And I didn't know how much money she was spending on these books. But the books that I was asking for, even at five, six were like, the secret teachings of Christ, the Gnostic, like Gnostic texts.
