Hey, Bible Readers, I'm Miss Emily, and this is the Bible Recap for Kids.

Today's Bible Verse.

Mark chapter three, verse two, says that the Pharisees watched Jesus to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath so that they might accuse him. When the Pharisees accused Jesus and the disciples of breaking Sabbath laws, Jesus teaches them that God made the Sabbath laws to serve people and give them the gift of rest and health. So people's needs and health are greater than the Sabbath law.
All of God's laws point to who he is and how much he loves his kids. But the Pharisees have twisted and added onto his laws until they no longer point to God. As you can imagine, the Pharisees are not happy with Jesus. So they set up a trap for him using a man with a shriveled hand. Jesus chooses 12 of his disciples as his students and closest followers. But his own family thinks he's lost his mind. Maybe they're mad at him for making the Pharisees angry. Or maybe they don't believe he's the Messiah. But whatever the reason, Jesus calls his closest 12 disciples his family.
These 12 disciples have a special name, apostles, which is a word to remember.

Word to remember.
An apostle is a disciple who is given authority to preach and perform miracles in Jesus' name. 12 of Jesus' disciples during his ministry were apostles.

Jesus gives his apostles authority to preach and cast out demons in his name. Today's podcast.
Jesus is falsely accused by the Pharisees and even by his friends and family members. He knows what it's like to be misunderstood and mistreated, and he's so kind toward others who are treated the same way. The Pharisees used the man with the shriveled hand to try to trap Jesus, but Jesus saw their mistreatment of him and treated him with gentleness, mercy, and healing. He is so kind, and he's where the joy is.
