Former Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives is back on the scene. Having launched his own firm earlier this summer, Yorkville Ives analyst Daniel Ives hit Tuesday night with a list of shares on which he is very bullish. I'll save you the suspense. Apple's one of them. Seeking Alpha had the analyst posting to the hellhole that is Twitter saying, Initiating tech coverage tonight. In our view, investors underestimating the scale and scope of this $4 trillion spending wave over the next few years. Hey, can I address something really quickly? I had somebody take me to task recently for my attitude where Twitter is concerned. Explaining why they were dropping their Patreon support. The person wrote, There's now a lot of places from which to get Apple News. Ken now tends to be political and opinionated more and more. Refusing to be on X or even calling it the hellscape as uninformed, trite, reactionary and frankly, inconvenient. I'm not going to start a Mastodon account just to follow Ken. He seems to be finding ways to narrow his audience instead of being inclusive. He invites people to not follow him. Actually, I invite people to follow me on Mastodon or listen to the show or message me through Patreon. I mean, you knew that was a thing. I also give out an email address at the end of every episode. Same one every day for over 20 years.
I mourned when Twitter changed. I literally went into mourning. I had bad dreams about it. I am not kidding. It's a cesspool now, in my opinion. Swim in it if you want to. I choose to not. I'm not bashing anybody who does stay on Twitter, but dude, it is fine for me to not go to the store everybody else is going to, especially if I don't want to buy what they're selling. Seeking Alpha linked to Ives' Twitter post. Since I wasn't logged in, I couldn't see more than a few responses, but the ones being presented to me were just people dunking on Ives, replying to his post that he made, bashing him.
Tell me what I'm missing.
Anyway, Ives initiated coverage of shares. I'm pretty sure he never stopped covering. It's all outperform ratings for NVIDIA with a price target of 300 bucks, Microsoft with a price target of 650, Palantir with a price target of 250, CrowdStrike with a price target of 335, and Apple with a price target of 400 bucks. Apparently as a bonus, he tossed in Tesla as his preferred disruptive technology play. This one he also gave an outperform rating, though if you put a price target on it, it went unnoticed by Seeking Alpha. If you think his time out of the spotlight might have cool dives on AI, you've got another think coming. Excited as ever, Ives says supply, not demand defines this phase of the AI revolution cycle. We believe we are early days of this AI build out and remain very bullish on prospects for the tech winners over the next few years.
I take Apple to task sometimes, you might have noticed, but I'm liking news that is not liked by the online advertising space. The website AdExchanger says the Trade Desk is unable to serve ads to the Safari browser for Apple device owners that have downloaded iOS 27 According to Wikipedia, the Trade Desk is an American multinational technology company that produces and services programmatic marketing automation with personalized real-time digital content. And to be clear, I have no problem with ads. Ads help me eat. I do have a problem, though, with ad tracking. Not tracking the success of an advertisement, but technologies that track individuals and target them with ads. I personally actually lost out on months of ads because I wouldn't attach such trackers to this show. According to AdExchanger, the latest iOS expands upon Apple's pre-existing policy of unconditionally blocking data broker domains that do addressable ID matching and facilitate tracking across sites. So the whole app tracking transparency thing, the trade desk and brokers like them have apparently found ways around that. But blocking their ads? That was apparently a mistake. A piece on the issue from Business Insider says Apple on Monday told the trade desk it had made changes in a new iOS beta release. Those changes appear to have untangled the trade desk's ad serving domain from being blocked. Indications are that the beta that fixes that issue is iOS 27.2 expected out to everyone in the coming weeks. That should leave plenty of time for ad platforms to advertise for the holidays. Still Business Insider has platforms like the Trade Desk worried that Apple is looking to blunt their ability to track people. To at least one advertising influencer, decisions like this should be left not to corporations, but to government. Tony Katzer, CEO of the Interactive Advertising Bureau's Tech Lab, is quoted in the Business Insider piece as saying, When governments pass laws and regulations in the interest of consumer privacy, it applies them to all and it's consistent across everyone. When a corporation like Apple pushes something like this out, it's uneven.
