Officials are responding after a fire involving hazardous material broke out in the Metro East Wednesday morning impacted the area of Sauget, Cahokia Heights and East St. Louis. According to the St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency, fire broke out in an industrial area around 12:45 a.m. south of Missouri Avenue between 50th and 19th streets in Sauget, Cahokia, and East St. Louis. The fire triggered an Everbridge notification to all phones in the area. Residents are advised to shelter in place, close windows, refrain from utilizing systems which may bring outside air into the house. So that's air conditionings.

According to a social media post by the agency, there is a fire involving hazardous material. A cloud could be seen floating northwest from the fire scene on Sauget Industrial Parkway near 255

St. Clair County emergency officials identified the chemical as, I'm not even going to try to pronounce that.
It's often used to make chlorine tablets for pools, although it does not contain chlorine, it reacts to water. Officials say the chemical could cause eye skin irritation and also poses an inhalation risk.

I don't know what goes on over there, but that's the breaking news this morning. It is going to be hot and swampy today. It's going to be one of those days. I don't care whether you call it a weather impact day or a first alert day, whatever it is, it doesn't matter. It's hot and it's going to be hot through this evening. Humidity, swampiness, scorching temperatures, and we're going to be at the baseball game today.
