Crash Course In Awesome

February 19, 2017

My god. It's happened. The incantations from the Necronomicon were read aloud. The blood sacrifices succeeded. The stars were right. And David Lo Pan married a woman with green eyes. Bryan and Ricky have risen from the inky depths to do a nearly 2 hour Reunion episode for all you fine folks!

Ricky (0:18)

Yeah, nothing's different.

Bryan (0:20)

So we draw attention to it.

Ricky (0:21)

I don't think I'm used to looking at your eyes while we record. I'll tell you that right now.

Bryan (0:26)

What did we used to do?

Ricky (0:27)

I don't know, look down.

Bryan (0:29)

Yeah.

Ricky (0:29)

No eye contact whatsoever.

Bryan (0:31)

Yeah, that silk scream between us. It was opaque, I could see your silhouette.

Ricky (0:37)

Yeah, you could see me subtly undressing.

Bryan (0:44)

Is this it? Are we in it?

Ricky (0:46)

Right back to it like nothing changed, man.

Bryan (0:51)

Well, then fine. Fine. This is it. This is Crash Course in Awesome. The podcast where once upon a time, we picked a topic and give you a Crash Course in it. That was fun saying. You want to try it?

Ricky (1:07)

Yeah. Wait, which part?

Bryan (1:09)

All of it.

Ricky (1:10)

Welcome to Crash Course in Awesome. The podcast where we pick a topic, give you a quick Crash Course in it. It's always awesome. It's like I never-

Bryan (1:15)

There it is. Yeah.

Ricky (1:15)

It's like I never stopped saying it.

Bryan (1:16)

My name is Bryan.

Ricky (1:17)

My name is Ricky.

Bryan (1:18)

Oh my God. And this is- this is weird.

Ricky (1:21)

This is super weird.

Bryan (1:23)

Remember, you ever go back to your high school after a couple of years, and you're like, oh, it's so different.

Ricky (1:28)

That is so true. It exactly feels like that.

Bryan (1:34)

Are we better than we were in high school? I'm not. Oh, I've slipped.

Ricky (1:40)

Wait, like now? Are we-

Bryan (1:42)

Am I cooler than I was in high school?

Ricky (1:43)

I would like to think so. Define cool.

Bryan (1:49)

So maybe we should address what the hell is going on. You want to do this or you want me to say something?

Ricky (1:57)

I'll jump in.

Bryan (1:58)

There's no rules. There's no structure here.

Ricky (1:59)

That's the problem.

Bryan (2:00)

Oh, hair pulling out sound.

Ricky (2:02)

Okay. So me and Bryan were talking. We were keeping an eye on the fan pages, the Facebook page, fan pages, the Facebook page.

Bryan (2:12)

Dozens of single Facebook posts.

Ricky (2:14)

Which we didn't create at all. Yeah, the Facebook page and the iTunes reviews and stuff. And we've been seeing all the kind words. Yeah, and the emails too. We've been seeing all the kind words you guys have been leaving us. And it's been apparently two years since we've posted our finale.

Bryan (2:29)

What? January, mid-January right now? Yeah, 2017

Ricky (2:33)

Yeah.

Bryan (2:34)

Yeah, and the last one we did was December 7th, 2014, which feels forever ago.

Ricky (2:42)

Yeah, that's insane. But anyways, we've been paying attention to you guys and just wanted to do a reunion episode of sorts.

Bryan (2:49)

A one-off?

Ricky (2:51)

Yeah.

Bryan (2:51)

Just because it did seem like there was a lot of people saying, will you please come back? Will you please do more episodes? And that is the sweetest thing that anybody could ever do. And just like we were getting likes on the show two years later, like just a little gradual uptick and like the downloads are still pretty good.

Ricky (3:11)

Yeah. Well, it's funny to having all those people that started listening after we finished. And it was all like, ah, crap. But yeah, that means it breaks.

Bryan (3:20)

Yeah. So we thought it might be fun to climb back into the studio one last time.

Ricky (3:27)

And we are going to be rusty.

Bryan (3:31)

How long have we been talking with the microphones recording before we have had anything to say?

Ricky (3:36)

Almost 10 minutes.

Bryan (3:38)

But then probably not that bad.

Ricky (3:40)

But we've been ready to record for about three hours. Just hanging out and seemingly avoiding recording.

Bryan (3:48)

We literally planned a vacation together, which we can talk about later. Yeah, that's true. Instead of recording this.

Ricky (3:56)

Let's go back to that.

Bryan (3:59)

Okay, should we talk about that? Or you want to save that to later? We'll save that to later.

Ricky (4:05)

Yeah, we'll save it to later.

Bryan (4:07)

Do you want to stick to the schedule? The schedule? The itinerary? Yes, please. So just to give you guys a little bit of a table of contents.

Ricky (4:16)

Yeah, I do.

Bryan (4:17)

What to expect while listening to this weird kind of one-off Reunion episode. We're going to be jumping all over the place, but we are going to be doing a catch up on what we've been up to. We are going to talk about a very interesting thing that actually happened to us in the context of the podcast. Yeah. We're going to do our top five current vices, and we're going to do some kind of getting to know you questions. I mean, we'll talk about kind of, we'll segue into these.
