Oh, you know what that sound means. It's time for some giant tickets. It's Football Friday on the Fan, and we're giving away tickets to see the Giants and Arizona this Sunday, October 4th at MetLife Stadium. Call now and be caller number two, just to mix it up, at 866-540-WFN.
That's 866-540-9326 for your chance to win. Go see the G-Men.
Chris McMonigle (0:25)
All right, let's take some calls again.
Breeze Hall, out for this Sunday. We're not sure if Alan Judge is on the roster. That'll be decided by 3.3 tomorrow. We'll have it before then, I'm sure, but 3.3 is the deadline.
Craig Carton (0:39)
Yeah, I don't know when they're going to put it in or when they're going to make a public baboon. Kind of just made a little bit of a frustrated comment about constantly getting asked questions about the roster. And he's like, we haven't made any decisions on the roster. Those decisions will be made tonight. That's what he said. Now who knows when we hear those decisions, but he's saying they'll finalize them tonight.
Chris McMonigle (0:57)
The rule is you have to put them in by three hours before first pitch scheduled. So 3.3 tomorrow is the deadline. My gut is that at noon tomorrow, we'll have an idea of who's on the roster and who's up.
Craig Carton (1:10)
It's going to be interesting with how they handle the starting rotation too.
Even though they've established that Cole is going to start game one, which I think is the right decision. It's not an easy one. Rodin has earned the right to be thrown into the mix with this guy, how he pitched really all year and how he pitched specifically the last three or four starts compared to how Cole. But Cole's the guy. Cole's been there, guy. I have no problem with it. But he did say that they have four starters and he's going to use all of them. And he's saying right now that he expects Rodin to start either game three or four at Yankee Stadium.
Chris McMonigle (1:41)
We'll get more in depth on that coming up a little later on. We'll start with football today as we've been a lot of baseball all week long. We have a two-and-one Giants football team sitting in first place, by the way.
Craig Carton (1:50)
That's true.
Chris McMonigle (1:51)
And we have the New York Jets trying to get back to 500
Craig Carton (1:53)
And if they beat the Cardinals, they'll still be in first place.
Chris McMonigle (1:57)
And by the way, the way the Eagles' offense looks, the way the Cowboys' defense is riddled with injuries now. I know they got Joey Porter Jr., which is a major upgrade for them. But the New York Giants, for a couple of weeks now, can at least live in the fantasy land of making the playoffs. That's right.
Craig Carton (2:11)
Let us live in the fantasy land. Eagles lose to the Rams, Giants win alone in first place.
Chris McMonigle (2:17)
Alone in first place. Look at you.
Craig Carton (2:19)
How about that?
Chris McMonigle (2:19)
Gibby's in Westchester on the fan. Gibby, good afternoon. How are you?
SPEAKER_3 (2:24)
Good afternoon, Craigie and C-Mac. How are you guys?
Chris McMonigle (2:26)
Good. How are you, buddy?
SPEAKER_3 (2:27)
So Craigie, would you do me a favor? Can we have a little back and forth instead of me? I want to make a point why the Giants either are or can certainly be a playoff team and playoffs are not just about you. It's about your conference. It's about your league.
The Rams, let's call them the best. How good is Detroit so far? How good is Green Bay so far? How good do the Eagles look so far? Tampa Bay, Denalas, Washington. So it's about not just about the Giants. It's about their division. It's about the conference. And right now they have a couple of things going for them. They have the ability to hold on to the football because they have a good offensive line and they've got a bunch of very decent, if not good running backs. And Jameis Winston, although he looked horrible against the Rams, certainly last week was a disaster weather-wise, but they won. They held a team that was not a good team to seven points. They have a little softness in the schedule. They have some talent. They've got guys coming back. Okay, weather, they're going to the best safety combos in the league so far, right? They just had what, defensive player of the month.
You know, Javon Howland, their safety.
They have some of the tools, but the rest of the league, with the exception of a couple of teams, looks very even, let's call it. There's a lot of parity. So why can't the Giants, and by the way, let's talk about second chances, because you're a guy who's made the most of it, and I'm proud of you. Why can't JJ. McCarthy, who was the 10th overall pick, be nothing different than a Sam Darnold and others? Look at the Cleveland last night.
