Now, here's the Aaron Glenn story. So obviously at halftime, going in, he does the interview with the gal, and he, among other things, says, well, you know, we get the ball basically out of the locker room, intimating that the Jets are gonna receive the kickoff in the second half. But of course, the Jets were not supposed to receive the kickoff in the second half, all right? So that became a big talking point after the game that Aaron Glenn had no idea that the Jets start off on defense in the second half. So after the game, he's doing a press conference, but I guess it's a Zoom press conference, as I understand it, and when somebody asked a question, hey Aaron, how did you mess that up? How did you not know that the New York Jets were going to kick to open up the second half? The YouTube feed suddenly, mysteriously, went black.

And that was it, just cut out. I'm not even sure when it came back in. Now do you believe that it was A, a mistake, B, do you think the Jets did it on purpose, or C, did we ever get the answer?

Chris McMonigle (1:24)

I think I did read somewhere to answer C.

I think I did read somewhere that one of the beat guys put out that his comment while cut off did say that I meant the next time our offense takes the ball. Just pretty much. I knew it wasn't the first possession out of the break. I just meant when we get the ball back.

Craig Carton (1:42)

Okay, by the way, if that's what he meant and said, okay, kind of hard to believe it.

But if that's at least the excuse for it or rationale for it, I suppose I could accept that. I don't know. Yeah. Here's the problem with it. When you haven't earned the benefit of the doubt yet, and you're by far the worst game clock manager in football today, it's kind of hard to believe that that's what he meant.

Chris McMonigle (2:15)

It's kind of hard to believe it. It's kind of hard not to just assume he wasn't sure who was getting the ball out of the half time.

Craig Carton (2:21)

I got none of worse than he thought he was getting the ball. Like it's one thing if he didn't know.

It's another thing to be wrong.

Chris McMonigle (2:31)

Right? It's just that he's so bad at this.

Craig Carton (2:36)

Yes.

Chris McMonigle (2:36)

He's so bad at every aspect. And he can't fire him. Like, I'm sorry. He can't fire him during the season.

Craig Carton (2:41)

I'll tell you why he can't fire him. Because Frank Reich's no better.

Chris McMonigle (2:44)

He's going to be the head coach if they fire him. Correct. There's no one else to make the head coach. Correct. He's going to make Frank Reich the head coach.

Craig Carton (2:50)

Correct.

Chris McMonigle (2:51)

Now, what would be the benefit of that?

Craig Carton (2:53)

There's no upside to that at all.

Chris McMonigle (2:54)

There's no upside to that at all.

Craig Carton (2:55)

Frank Reich's going back to retirement after this year, exactly where he belongs.

Yeah. I think he's going to have a whole new coaching staff. Yes. Rightfully so. Rightfully so. So I want to be clear.

I am stuck with Aaron Glenn for the entirety of this season. No matter how many more bad losses pile up, Aaron Glenn is coaching all 17 games because the only guy you could go to is Frank Reich and Frank Reich is a disaster as offensive coordinator for this football team. And I don't care how many analytics he tries to shove up my ass on Thursday. He's a bad coordinator. There's no creativity. There's no week to week changes in the type of offense we run. Nope. We almost never throw the ball deep unless it's too late. And then all of a sudden we do. We scored touchdown on it. We forgot the Gowd Wilson's on the roster, right? Sadiq, who gets cleared to play, is a non-factor and we're running back of running backs up the middle out of the shotgun on third and fourth and one.

Chris McMonigle (3:59)

Yep.

Craig Carton (3:59)

And it drives me crazy.

Chris McMonigle (4:01)

That's a good summary. Thank you. That's pretty much. I put some work into that. That's about everything that we've come to expect from Frank Reich.

Craig Carton (4:08)

Here's Danny and Centerport on the fan. Danny, good afternoon, sir. How are you?
