419, Carton Show, Big Mac, on SNY as well. Good to see you guys on TV.

I know a little D came in. I want to get back to the calls, and everyone's excited, obviously, about the Nick game tonight. We're going to do that. We've got some jet stuff to get to. Obviously, the New York Giants cured a Najee Harris, and I think John Homer just sent a message to everybody. You speak out of turn, you're gone. Now, it's easier to cut a guy into the bitter for four weeks, but he sent a message.

Chris McMonigle (0:27)

And hasn't been productive either, but yeah.

Craig Carton (0:29)

It's also a game much for an opportunity to be productive.

Chris McMonigle (0:31)

That's fair, but again, like you said, not necessarily a scathing comment or anything out of the... He just said it's hard to get into a rhythm. The coach was asked about it, the next day he's cut. That, I mean...

Craig Carton (0:43)

That was done on purpose. That was not for any reason other than...

Chris McMonigle (0:48)

I can't imagine that's the whole reason. I think they just decided not to do the four... I think they hated the way it looked.

Craig Carton (0:55)

If you're asking me...

Chris McMonigle (0:56)

The way what looked?

The run game and how they handled it last week, in the last game here against the Saints. But Harbaugh did that. No, I know. I think he just was... I thought in the moment it felt like the right thing to do, after doing it in practice, I think he... No joke, I think he agreed with him. I think he agreed with Najee Harris that it's just, it's not a formula for success and he was the last man on the totem pole. So I think it's a little bit of that. I also just think they decided to cut one of their four running backs and he's the worst one.

Craig Carton (1:24)

But it's hard to avoid the fact that Najee got cut 24 hours after saying something.

Chris McMonigle (1:31)

I get it.

Craig Carton (1:31)

And he wasn't critical of the coach.

Chris McMonigle (1:33)

But that's what I'm saying. Are you literally-

Craig Carton (1:35)

But he said the message.

Chris McMonigle (1:36)

That you can't speak your mind?

Craig Carton (1:38)

Yeah, publicly.

Chris McMonigle (1:39)

Not even if it's just fair.

Craig Carton (1:42)

Yeah. I think, again, no one else has done it.

Chris McMonigle (1:45)

I hate to sound like the softie. I know right now we're big men and I don't want to sound all soft.

Craig Carton (1:51)

It's okay.

Chris McMonigle (1:51)

But let me just say, let me just ask some question.

How do you think that goes over in the room when it's like, man, he wasn't even being critical. Like he just said, it's hard to get momentum going.

Craig Carton (2:03)

I think everyone's kind of put on notice. Remember, Najee Harris was here for a month.

Chris McMonigle (2:07)

It's one thing to come out and be uber critical and say, this is nonsense. I should get the ball.

Craig Carton (2:11)

But he's not a long-term giant.

Chris McMonigle (2:12)

No, I get it. Like if Najee Harris came out and said, this is stupid, I should be getting the ball. I'm the best damn running back on this team. I could see that. Or like, this coach doesn't know what he's doing. I've never been in an operation that's handled a running back which he didn't do. He said, look, it's hard to get attraction when we're hardly playing and get momentum when we're not getting consistent snaps. That's a fair, reasonable response. The coach agrees.

So again, it's too obvious. It's too on the nose to just cut him after that.

Craig Carton (2:46)

But I think part of it is, look, are the Giants worse without Najee? Maybe not. It's probably irrelevant, right?

Chris McMonigle (2:52)

I don't think they are.

Craig Carton (2:53)

Because he hasn't had that many touches or opportunities. They handled it. No, but here's my point.

Chris McMonigle (2:57)

They didn't like the way it looked, so they said we need to get rid of one of these running backs and he's the guy to get rid of.

Craig Carton (3:01)

I think it's more than that. I think it is, hey guys, for those of you that didn't know it, sure they all did, there's a new sheriff in town.

Chris McMonigle (3:10)

Yeah.

Craig Carton (3:11)

And this is the way it's going to go. I can guarantee you this, I will guarantee you that the Giants had their best practice of the year today.
