Craig Blasts Midday Crew for 'Killing Masculinity' with Outfit Debate

The Carton Show with Craig Carton & Chris McMonigle

September 17, 2026

Craig and Big Mac critique the midday crew for debating their game-day wardrobes, arguing that such discussions undermine their masculinity. They also react to an unflattering viral photo of Bill Belichick and poke fun at Evan Roberts' preference for tropical cocktails.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! 432!

By the way, a little reminder, I feel like from time to time, we all need a little reminder, okay? Reminder number one, we live in a town with a championship NBA team. To New York Knicks.

Chris McMonigle (0:19)

That is true.

Craig Carton (0:20)

Reminder number two, Big Mac, we live in a town with two undefeated football teams.

Chris McMonigle (0:28)

Yes, that is true.

Craig Carton (0:29)

Yes, yes, yes.

Chris McMonigle (0:31)

And tonight, the Buffalo Bills play the Detroit Lions.

Craig Carton (0:36)

That's correct, that should be a good game tonight.

Chris McMonigle (0:37)

It should be, I'm looking forward to it. And if the Lions win, Go ahead. The Jets stand alone in that division is undefeated.

How about that?

Craig Carton (0:46)

The only undefeated team in the AFC East, the New York Jets are politics.

Chris McMonigle (0:54)

How about that?

Craig Carton (0:55)

We also learned a valuable lesson earlier today here in WFAM, and that is, I know many people think that when it comes to masculinity, that we've only got Boomer and Tiki, two guys that played out professional football. I would never take that away from them.

Chris McMonigle (1:09)

I'm here every day, and that's still the thought.

Craig Carton (1:11)

Yeah, that's still the thought, but I wanna throw some cold water on the thought that some of the audience has that, well, only Tiki and Boomer played professional football, so they're the real men of WFAM. I was listening to the midday show today with Tiki, who I adore, and Evan, who I adore, and Sean Mayer Ashwine, more Ash, more Ash, pardon me, who I adore.

Chris McMonigle (1:33)

Yeah.

Craig Carton (1:34)

Good guys, good friends.

Chris McMonigle (1:35)

We adore all three of them.

Craig Carton (1:36)

Good people, by the way.

Chris McMonigle (1:37)

A lot of adoring going on.

Craig Carton (1:38)

But they set masculinity back 100 years today.

Chris McMonigle (1:41)

Did they?

Craig Carton (1:42)

Yes. They spent my entire commute from Fox down here, which is 25 minutes, debating as men, what should I wear to the jet game on Sunday?

And I couldn't take it. I couldn't take it.

Chris McMonigle (1:59)

Because of the, I just saw it. Do I wear white? I didn't actually hear that.

Craig Carton (2:02)

Should I wear white?

Chris McMonigle (2:03)

Oh, the white outfit.

Craig Carton (2:04)

Do I wear green, Tiki? Is it okay to wear green?

Should I wear shorts? Should I wear a belt?

Chris McMonigle (2:11)

That's supposed to rain, right?

Craig Carton (2:12)

Like, what happened to being a man? What man do you know is thinking about his outfit for Sunday NFL game on Thursday?

Chris McMonigle (2:22)

Yeah.

Craig Carton (2:23)

Well, Tiki, should I wear green? Should the Jets provide me a white shirt or should I just wear white, Tiki?

Chris McMonigle (2:32)

Ridiculous.

Just do what I do. Get dressed.

Craig Carton (2:35)

Wake up and put on the first thing you see and go.

Chris McMonigle (2:38)

Get dressed and keep...

Craig Carton (2:39)

That's called being a man.

Chris McMonigle (2:40)

And just wait until my wife has no complaints and then go in that outfit. Also a good idea. That's exactly how it goes.

Craig Carton (2:46)

Like, when's the last time you planned, three days in advance, what you're going to wear somewhere?

Chris McMonigle (2:52)

Never! I mean, never.

Craig Carton (2:53)

Now, there are times you put something on, your wife goes, get back in the closet, put something else on.

Chris McMonigle (2:58)

Oh, it happens all the time.

Craig Carton (2:59)

And we're like, okay, honey, sure. Any suggestions? Yeah. We're open there.

We don't lose our man card.

Chris McMonigle (3:06)

I get that going to my kids' football games. You're not wearing that to the game, are you?

Craig Carton (3:09)

Are you wearing that?

Chris McMonigle (3:10)

You're not wearing that to the game. Yeah.

Craig Carton (3:12)

Yeah, it's on.

Chris McMonigle (3:12)

It's a sweatshirt and shorts. I'm wearing this.

Craig Carton (3:14)

I get that all the time. You're wearing that again?

I get that way.

Chris McMonigle (3:19)

All the time.

Craig Carton (3:19)

Boy, the other thing women have that men don't have, if I may be stereotypical here for a moment, I never remember what I wore previously.

Chris McMonigle (3:28)

Yeah.

Craig Carton (3:29)

Wives always remember the last time we had dinner with them, that's the shirt you wore. You can't wear that shirt again. Like, woman, it's been nine months since we had dinner with those people. That's what you wore, though.
